What's the best way to complain about the AA???

I did wonder about the 50 mile limit, Is that because they upgraded on the stop and not prior to the event.
I have the RAC top package and dont remember reading a 50 mile limit. 50 miles is nothing these days.
But if they upgraded a week before the journey and then needed it, It would have taken them home?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I was about to query the 50 mile limit because I know DH got a tow back from Gatwick once when he broke down and it's more than 50 miles. But then saw molerat's reply and it makes sense.bettyboo333 wrote: »I think you misunderstood me I did upgrade to relay which states that you can be towed to any destination in the Uk, but AA decided that night that 50 miles was the maximum they would take us I'm finishing this here as all I wanted was advice and not criticism I did pay out for the cover that I thought would be sufficient for me and my situation!!::(
Sorry it does seem they operated within contract on this one. It's a pity you upgraded really as I don't think you have very good value for money from it, but you may yet do so. But the points some others make about having a relay/recovery option is worth noting. Some things are false economy. The only reason I don't have homestart as well is because I live next door to a mechanic and can get anywhere I need to get urgently on public transport if needs be. Otherwise I would; DH was an ex mechanic himself and could get anything working but I'm clueless!bob_a_builder wrote: »Do the A A's T&Cs say that they only offer roadside cover "when the shops are open"
I doubt it !
I think it's unreasonable to expect the AA or anyone to be able to fix every fault. There aren't many car spares shops or garages open late on Saturday nights and, if the car needed a part, then there's little the mechanic can do.
That was why I asked what broke; I was trying to see if the OP could get some advice on whether it could have been fixed at the road, either permanently or with an adequate "make do" If it was and they didn't do it, then I believe the OP probably has got a valid complaint. But if if needed a part, it needed a part, there's not a lot that can be done about that.
I guess that just means it comes down to attitude and sympathy of the AA man/call centre, and if they were particularly rude or unhelpful (inside the scope of how they could help you).
OP I think if you feel strongly, you should still give the AA some feedback on the service you received anyway. I don't think there's much that could be done but if you feel it was a negative experience, by all means let the AA know."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -

I'll stick to my usual threads I think as so many of you on here are just out to snap at people all I wanted was advice not criticism!!
I think everyone can understand how you felt and as far as I am concerned, they have offered very good advice. There were some very direct and succinct answers which could have been worded better, but facts are facts.
Simply put, if you were not using your diabetes to gain favour during the time with the AA man, why did you mention it to him? Why mention it in the original post? Try re-reading that post again but *remove* all references to your unfortunate condition. It doesn't really read very well in your favour.
The AA are a business, not a charity and unfortunately act as such. The advice given *is* sound. Unfortunately you need more cover, but fortunately there are organisations who can give you the cover you need for *much* less than the AA0
