Why did you co e here then?0

what *exactly* are you complaining about?
As I see it, you got the service you paid for, albeit after a bit of a delay for them to get to you.
If you buy the 1* service, you can't expect to get the 5* service ...0 -
Maybe the op thaught playing on her illness means she would get a free upgrade to a better level of recovery, very mse0

I did have snacks to eat so I was prepared...I only had roadside assistance as It is all we could afford but I was under the assumption that the driver would at least take us to a local garage which he refused!!! and was quite happy to leave us in a dark carpark....where our car would be at risk of being damaged.....I'm probably just a bit fragile after everything but I didn't come on here to be told off
Roadside does cover towing to a local garage. However, it would be just that - a tow to a local garage. If you were hoping that he'd take you to a 24/7 garage, you were going to be disappointed.
The chances of finding a garage that is open on a Saturday evening are slim to none, so you'd simply be towed to the garage, given a slip of paper to show the garage when it opened (probably Monday morning), and left there. You would still be responsible for finding local accomodation and making your way to that local accomodation.
Why the driver didn't take you to a local garage is something you could ask, although I don't know how far you'd get - you're still asking for something above and beyond what you've agreed and paid for when you took out your membership.
As for complaining, I always find that complaints by post are far more effective than any other type of complaint, provided that your letter is:
a) well written
b) factual, objective and unemotional
c) states clearly what happened
d) states clearly what you want doing to rectify the problem
If you are going to write, detail succinctly the events that made you unhappy, why you feel the AA failed to meet your expectations (based on what you agreed when you took out your membership) and what resolution would satisfy you. Also rememeber that, in all likelihood, the person reading the letter is not the person who caused the problem, so do not use any form of antagonistic language.
I would also advise against dwelling on your diabetes in your letter - it adds nothing to your complaint (should someone with diabetes deserve better treatment than someone without?).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. By the way I am an avid money saving expert fan and get great deals on here but the AA was something I just couldn't get much cheaper!!
Sorry, but i think you're now just saving face.
If it needed a £20 part, how could the AA guy have suddenly produced that on a saturday night?
And if it didnt need the part and was such an easy fix, why didnt the recover truck driver fix it on the spot for you?
You could have got better cover for at least the same price. The AA are nowhere near the cheapest.
I think you need to accept here that you got the service you paid for and that going forward you need to plan - both financially and otherwise - for the cover you need and not just to rely on the hope that the AA man will tow you 170 miles home for free (and then drive the 170 miles back again)0 -

How dare you go on presumptions I will never and never have played my illness as a free upgrade I work full time and would never claim for my illness and to state this about me is rude how dare you!!
I'll stick to my usual threads I think as so many of you on here are just out to snap at people all I wanted was advice not criticism!!0 -

Sorry but whilst you are throwing a wobbly.
The whole pretext of your thread is that the AA is responsible for you, because of your illness
given your situation I would suggest you cant afford not to have full cover.
Like myself,I have a young kid and need to know if it all goes **** up,I am covered to get him and the car home with minimal fuss.
Hence I pay for that cover
You have the added issue of requiring meds and time constraints.
So the buck stops with you. if it was simply a case of giving a sob story at the roadside,we would all do it0 -

Believe you If I had the money I would pay for it and I did pay to upgrade but it still didn't help us....I would love to have the money to have the best cover possible but even though we both work we struggle everyday to even put food on the table....I think it's wrong for you to state that I should pay out for the best cover given my situation as I would love to do just that but if the money just isn't there!!!0 -

No,I said you cant afford not to.
You cant have it both ways.
you dont want to/cant pay for the service you wish, but wish to berate the AA for not providing you with the service free0 -
