Agree. It was her decision to purchase - and you are on a slippery slope if you feel 70 > should not be allowed to purchase what the want.

Dropping calls may have nothing to do with the phone, but the coverage at her location. This will be key to getting it cancelled, as a change of mind will not. Once a phone is powered up with a SIM, I cannot be resold, as it is deemed customised and will not be accepted back. As for taking out a 2 year contract, that was her biggest mistake.

PAYG and an unlocked handset is all she requires, check out Doro models - big keys, large displays and no frills.

I would rather she gets rid but its her choice ultimately. What she is slowly understanding is as her recently emigrated daughter & grand kids have iPhones & iPads, she will be able to communicate with them easier and at no cost mainly.

She has till next Monday to decide what she wants, I am pleased talk mobile offer a cooling off period and I am shocked that not all networks do offer it.

would love to see this breakdown, as i am pretty sure a iphone will cost more than a samsung galaxy ace either in upfront costs or monthly cost, which kinda defeats this arguement

and you do know you can get skype for iphone and android which will give the same level of 'free' communication as the apple services of imessage and facetime (either requires a data bundle included in the tariff or wifi, so not totally free, but as free as each other), with the added bonus of being able to make voice calls aswell
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Whattsap communicates free across all platforms and is one alternative to the higher priced IPhone route .

Personally i dont see why a woman approaching 70 should find it any more difficult than a man approaching 70 .

I think Carphone Warehouse allow a 14 day return. It would certainly be worth talking to them right away if your MIL thinks it's the wrong phone for her. I think she would have to admit some of the repsonsibility for choosing a phone that isn't right for her though!

As smartphones go The Galaxy Ace is pretty straightforward. How complex it is depends to a large degree what you choose to use it for. The signal issue sounds like a local one...or possible a faulty handset certainly worth checking with Carphone Warehouse without any further delay. I've got one of these and have never had a signal problem.

On the plus side if she really wants to upgrade to an Iphone I'd imagine they'll be delighted to quadruple her costs and supply one... but she'll be wrong to think that any "facetime" calls she makes are really "free"-- she'll be paying quite alot for the privilege!
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!
