I know this is not OS at all but...
I wanted you all to know that we had Biff put to sleep this afternoon. I am absolutely devastated by it. Allot of you know that my dogs and horses mean everything to me. BIff was a rescue boy we found him in the lane, I guess he was dumped. For a long time he had horrific dreams, but slowly and surely he came through and the pitiful whining gave way to woofing and running about in his dreams. He came to trust us as we came to love him very much. When we went on holiday we found a holiday cottage that he could come with us to. The walks down the beach and just being with us as we were with him. I just love and miss him so much. He loved our land rover and we asked the vet if she would put him to sleep in the back of the car with us all together and from there we drove home and buried him. He was still warm, still looking like he was asleep.
Yesterday I made a big roast dinner, gave him his roast pork (something I would never give him but it really didn't matter) his two big own roast potatoes and gravy. He loved it so much. Then I gave up my custard share and I put that in his bowl and he had that yesterday afternoon for his pudding. I am so glad that I did it now. I came home from work today at lunchtime and just spent the last two and half hours with him. Made him a lovely bowl of tea - his fave.
The hurt and pain that I feel now will ease, but for now it's terrible.

The only time I've ever seen my dad cry was when we had to have our little dog put down.
You've let him out of his pain, which is more than you can do for another person. Be kind to yourself.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
