thank you ang i did mean things like compost and pots like you idea about tin can and tubs i didn't think about that and my little boy has some old sand buckets thave have craked on the bottom so i could use them for bigger things like toms. ohh do i need a stick to hold toms up in a pot?Tickb26

old buckets - great idea!
there are two types of toms, tumblers and cordon. The easiest for a complete beginner is the tumbler as they need no attention other than water/feed. If you use a tumbler type, you do not need a stick/cane!
PS New potatatoes are traditionally planted on good friday, so you are not late at all!0 -
wow thank you ang I'll get planting on monday just hope alex (my little boy) is as excited as me i feel like a kid again as i had my own veg patch in the garden when i was little my dad was very keen for us to grow our own things and i loved it and feel i should do the same for alex.Tickb26

Wow angie that is soooooooooooooo cool...I've just spent a happy half an hour making my first newspaper pot.... hopefully the first of many! I might even try teaching my class of 7-8 year olds how to make them too! Thanks a lot for the link:beer:

Aldi has packets of seeds cheap and little "green house" starter kits for some veggies to grow on the windowsill.
I get a piece of cotton wool and stick it in an empty yog pot add water and cress seeds and stick on the windowsill.Sealed pot challenge 822
