Sunflowers are fun as they can grow massive!
If you have other little ones nearby, you can give seedlings away and see who can grow the biggest one. Here I go again on my own....0 -

One of the best veg to grow with kids is Radish!!
They start sprouting within 3-4 days of planting so at least it will hold their interest. Our dream has come true...0 -
Shake some cress seeds into the toe end of old pair of tights and fill with soil, tie in a knot and put the knotted end into a jamjar of water. Decorate the front with a face and the cress will grow to become hair! It should only take a couple of weeks before the hair starts appearing.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

What things do you actually need?
If you mean compost, then you are best off going to a garden centre, or DIY store, or wilkinsons if there is one near you.
If you mean pots, then either try making them yourself from newspaper (I have made literally hundreds of these things)

or again, go to a garden centre, or (what I also do) reuse packaging - eg the tub your toms etc come in from the supermarket! Even an old tin can with holes punched in the bottom would serve as a chrome style modern planter!0
