some questions about bank accounts for poor past credit

  • No only Barclays & Lloyds for me.

They might of been notorious a while back but going by the evidence of some of the posters on here they've become very lenient.

Hopefully they've seen sense then and stopped that ridiculous practice!

From what I've read of late Barclaycard seem to have been playing that game over the last year, seems pointless issuing the card and opening the account (expense for the issuer) only to close it! Madness.

Anyway, good luck with the account OP, hopefully it'll go through fine. Once you've got some internal history with NatWest they may offer you an overdraft or whatnot to help you build your history back up

It seems strange that Natwest would approve me for a Select account. Isn't that a full current account?
"Subject to status" it will say somewhere.

Is this some type of cruel joke?
Almost. But you may find your card works in more ATMs.
"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis
  • I'm frankly grateful to get the account. Fresh start....
