There are plenty of bus's out of resort into Arrecife then connecting bus's all over the island the bus's run often between Costa Teguise and PDC and beteen PDC and Playa Blanca.
Persona I would stay either PDC, Los Pocillos, Matagorda (but close to airport some you get some noise) or my fav Costa Teguise. Stay SC its cheap to eat out and there are some great restraunts. Do you drive? car hire is cheap enough we hired a car for a week for £60

We stayed in Playa Blanca and it was lovely and would reccomend it to others.
We did the Rancho Texas trip and it was excellent http://www.ranchotexaslanzarote.com/ its a great day out. If you do go make sure you see the bird of prey show, you need to sit in the top right part of the seating area, make sure you sit still and see how close to your head the birds of prey come..........fabby :D

We didnt do many trips as we were happy with the hotel (lots to do for kids) so that kept us amused. We also went to Teguise market and if you go there you MUST haggle :D

The taxi boats were nice, it was about a 40 min ride around the island and in one area they stop the boat and they feed the fish. We then went back to the island. You could get off and go to papagayo beach but we decided to just do the boat tour.

Aaaaaaaiiiiiiii. Time is running out and i still can't decide between Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen.

Has anyone been to these resorts? I heard that PDC isn't so bad, and that there is actually a nice old town if you get away from the coast.

    Please advise.

Stayed at Puerto del Carmen a few years ago and it was a great resort.

We were right at the divide between the old town and the new town (next to tennis courts).

Definitely go to Timanfaya National Park. The bus trip through the volcanic "martian" landscape is spectacular. They played eerie music on our bus and it just added to the experience. It has been used as a filming location for several sci-fi films.

There's also a beach on the island where you can find lumps of volcanic rock embedded with peridot (olivine). We brought back loads of the stuff.

me and my boyfriend have spent the last 2 Christmas's in Puerto Del Carmen, absolutely love the place and would recommend it. There is a lot to do, and would say it is a place for every age. Both times we have stayed in the Los Pueblos Apartments. This is in the Old Town up from the harbour, if you have walking difficulties i would not recommend these apartments as it is up a huge hill, but is great, as nice and quiet up there, and is only about a 15 minute walk to the main strip with all the bars and restaurants. Taxi's are VERY cheap, only costs about 2-3 euros in a taxi from main strip to hotel. Not too sure what other information you need.

Costa Teguis is flat and purpose built and gets a good cooling wind, plenty of water sports because of the windy conditions. Loads of places to eat and drink with a splattering of english/irish bars but also a good selection of Canarian restraunts as well as Chinesse and Italian. Beaches are smaller but yellow sand (imported I think)

PDC...Large balck sand beach. Most of the hotels/apartments are built up into the hill there are a few lower down in between PDC and Los Pocillios that are on the flat but you do have to be careful the one you choose isnt up cardic hill...lol
Places to eat are much the same as CT ...loads of nightlife and a fair few clubs and bars and prices to eat out tend to be cheaper because of the competion. The Old Town is very hilly and not much accomodation around the pretty part which is the harbour all the rest is set well back its nice to visit but dont think I would like to be staying in the area.

We weren't that impressed with Costa Teguise when we stayed a year and a half ago.

Some of the hotels are a long way out of the centre towards Arrecife.

Costa Teguise was generally a bit run down in our opinion.

We liked the look of PDC - much larger and busier resort.

Playa Blanca is looking good - a lot of new development, but a great location - just a long trip from the airport.

CT is my fav...We always stayed at the Puerto Tachiche <sp> its close to everything. PDC was just a bit to brash and blackpooly for my liking (love blackpool in blackpool...not slagging it off..lol) Last time we went we couldnt get CT for a goodprice and ended up staying in Los Pocillios which I felt was a good compremise between the 2 type of resorts and close enough to jump on the bus for a night in PDC if we wanted it.
Love the Le Geria hotel or the San Antonio which is in a great location if you can get either of those on a deal go for it.
Playa Blanca was our first resort in Lanzarote and is what made us fall in love with the island but that was 20 years ago when it was just a fishing village with about 3 hotels
