OS Daily Thread for Monday 24th September

Options
Os daily 23 Sept 2012 This is the Daily thread for Saturday 22 September 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Eek! I started the daily thread! Hope nobody minds...

I have been up since 4.30am, am in a hotel in London. Fianc! has gone off and got his Eurostar for his day of meetings in Paris and I am all ready to go home, but need to wait for the Victoria Line to get up and running after a night of engineering works before I can go anywhere.

Had a nice meal out last night - was better than sandwiches in the hotel room anyway! Had two glasses of wine and I have a splitting headache now, serves me right.

Didn't get round to making my soup yesterday as I had a plumbing disaster (my house's plumbing......not mine!!!) so I will do that this afternoon when I get back from work. In work 10 - 1.20 today, it's a hard life! :D Also need to wash the floors downstairs as my dad came round to help with the plumbing disaster and walked around my house in his muddy wet shoes. Couldn't say anything as he was doing me a huge favour! May also, depending on how enthusiastic I feel in the kitchen, do some prep for some of the week's meals. Tomorrow is my day off work, but I didn't get my marking done at the weekend (again - plumbing disaster) so I will need to spend most of the day doing that.

Anyway, I'm going to tootle off into the horrible cold darkness and see if there are any trains! Hope you all have a good day and again hope no one minds me starting the thread today!

Morning all - I seem to have spent most of the last day asleep. Too dark to see what the weather's doing here but I suspect cold and rainy; I've just popped the heating on for half an hour. Soup will be made, and decluttering will continue (laundry, out-of-date breakfast cereals, and possibly the baking cupboard). Apart from that, the day's up for grabs! I might make a steamed jam sponge for dessert - DH won't consider soup + toast a decent enough dinner otherwise :) Tomorrow's appointment with the neurosurgeon got cancelled so have to re-arrange that. I've dropped a stone since surgery, although technically I should probably be going the other way with an underactive thyroid - not that I'm complaining, mind you. DH joined me in decluttering yesterday - just babysteps but still welcome.

Hugs to everyone - have a good day :)

  • Good morning all,
Very wet and miserable here today. The wind has dropped now though. It was so windy last night.
Thankyou all for your kind wishes for my DH. He is very achey and has bruises but he is ok. The salvage company are taking the car away today.
Going to work in half an hour or so i had better get a move on.
Washing is on the airer. I will have a quick whizz round in the kitchen and get ready.
    Tea tonight is chicken curry.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Good morning everyone,as my old Mum would say a typical Monday morning washday weather, rain and wind and blooming chilly.Luckily I did my washing on Saturday and its dry and awaiting ironing. That's my job for this morning as I didn't do it yesterday
I must also see if I can get down and do the skirting boards as they are looking a bit yuk.Getting downs OK its just getting up again:):) I have a problem with. Blasted joints don't work so well in the damp.
Right I'm off for a warm up in the shower then round to do the school run with my DGS,
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
    Cheers chums

I should have left for work by now, can you tell how enthusiastic I feel.
Fish fed, packups made, I will turn yesterday's roast lamb into spicy lamb casserole tonight.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all, awful weather here in Yorkshire today! House a mess due to having done all washing at weekend. Need to get children up and dressed, and need to get self motivated!!! One coffee down, need another I think!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning all, absolutely pouring here so Jack and I got soaked on our shortened walk. He also kept rolling in the wet grass so I wasn't happy. The cats are looking at the rain with total disgust and once they found out it was exactly the same weather at the back door as it is at the front they are playing a waiting game. They will need to go out at sometime!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Off to work in a while, like you HH have no desire to go. Hugs to all in need, hope you get the train OK daisiegg and get on with that marking:eek: Have a good day all and stay dry:)

    i'll say  its terrible

off to work today , hoping im going to be better today than yesterday , spent the whole day crying after DD1 went to uni , i didnt think i would be this bad , it was little things that set me off like taking some washing up to her room to put it in the drawer, when i opened it , it was empty :( and this morning when i got up for work , her bedroom door was open and when i went in, the room was immaculate and the bed empty, i suppose it takes time to get used to it

hope everyone has agreat day despite the weather ;)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Wet and overcast here this morning, wind has died down though. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/brocc cheese, carrots, green beans, yorkshires, and gravy - crackling not brilliant but there was some, so menfolk happy. There were LO's so all safely stowed in the fridge, that will be used to accompany Weds dinner, tonight we will be having fish, chips/jacket potato and beans/veg - nice quick easy dinner after working all day.

Expecting a manic Monday as the Fair was in town all last week and they use the 2 big car parks - so parking is very limited, so all those people that didn't come in last week will come in probably today! At least it makes the day go quicker.

I got the lunch cooking yesterday whilst DH collected his van and then did some outdoors jobs in the garden, then was able to get the remaining clothes that I'd got washed and dried on Saturday ironed - so dirty wash basket empty at the moment. Nice to start the week having kept everything up to date.

Was really chilly here yesterday afternoon so we did put the heating on for an hour - just got rid of the chill and good to know that it's working ok so when we do need it we can just put it on.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

I am back home...London was horrid at that time of the morning! Then I got into a big argument with a man at my home station because my ticket was off peak and it was peak time...I didn't even buy it from a machine, I got it from a ticket seller, so I assumed they knew what they were doing! A peak ticket is only 10p more and I kept saying I would pay the extra but he was more interested in giving me a lecture while a station full of commuters looked on :(

Never mind....I am in my own bed with a cuppa now! Got 2 hours before I need to leave for work so just going to be a bit lazy. Am tired and coming down with the terrible cold my fianc! brought home from the north west with him :(

Once again hope everyone has a great Monday...if such a thing exists!
