  • Sorry, but it is a live and learn situation. My Ex had 5K out of me. Was kindness out of me, because I thought we would be together after he had got out of his head I was "sleeping around".
In the end think I even paid for his new GF's Valatines day :( (Yeap, good old fashioned it was him all the time tarting around)
Write it off and move on

cheers for your replies guys, not looking hopeful then :-( however i'm not gonna just "put it down to experience" or just "write it off", thats never gonna happen, i'll just have to hope that i do get it back eventually, i'm still in touch with his ex best mate so...maybe one day hopefully. sorry to hear that good vibes, sounds like your well shot of him like i'm well shot of that a**hole :-)

So you're not going to try to forget about it and move on? There is nothing you can do legally. Will you be spending the rest of your life trying to get it back? It's going to haunt you and drive you to distraction.

Let it go. You know he's a d!ck. He's not going to pay and you can't make him. Of course it makes you sick thinking about it, and you are aching for payback, but..sheet happens. Let it go and live your life. It hurts, but there's nothing else you can do.
  • You might want to look at this thread. 40 pages of people in your situation - see if you can find any who got their money back

  • The best way u can 'get back at him' is to learn from the experience and move on. Keeping it on your mind, feeling cheated, waiting (probably in vain) for the moment when u stand a chance of getting this money back (that was given as a gift at the time of giving) etc will only harm u and do nothing at all to him. Just be thankful that he's gone.

Don't give this eejit the significance of another thought or action.
  • The best revenge is to not bother with revenge, dont let him feel he is imprtant enough to even think about in any way.
he will get his someday, and its a pathetic life he is leading having to constantly borrow money to survive.

Living well is the best revenge. Let him think that £1000 doesn't matter to you. But whatever you do, you aren't going to get your money.

Close that chapter in your life - ie forget about the money and forget about him.

You already sound a little bitter, this will grow as time moves on - do you really want him to be still effecting you after all this time has passed?

Delete all contact details for him and his friends, open the curtains and let some sunshine back into your life.
  • Be grateful it was only a grand. My ex left me in such a bad state I ended up bankrupt.

Give it up and move on hun
