Blimey....we are on a septic tank as we live in the sticks too, but ours only ever needs emptying every 18 months to 2 years and there's 4 of us living here.
    Never smells either ;)

A neighbour has to have theirs emptied far more frequently because they have paved most of their garden and all rainwater ends up in their tank and caused problems with their soak away.
It costs us £100 to have it emptied but we save a small fortune on our water rates, well over half :T

Being townies before moving here, we were a bit yuk at having a septic tank but now we never give it a second thought

sadly we have a cess pit rather than a septic tank which just sits there!!

It doesn't bother us that much just autistic ds who has no idea on a shower and given half the chance would stand underneath a hot shower for hours
thinking about it I could do with something warm as my office isn't that warm..........

I may get shot down for this but i just had to have my say on the matter some of you have been discussing this morning about not going to work if you feel unwell or sending your kids to scool if they have a common cold or such things.
While i understand some of your points ie germs get spread about and a common cold is a bit more serious to some people, i really dont think you can keep your child away from school for it i want my children to get the best education they can and keeping them home for a few weeks a year as they have a cold does not sit right with me they miss so much work in a few wekks it is hard for them to catch up.
Second i work and if i kept calling in sick every time i had a cold i would be dismissed we can only be off a number of times in a 12 month period. some people do not get paid to if they dont go to work and not everyone can afford time off work
Sorry for rant i know everyone is entiteld to thier opion but i can see everyones point on this.
  • My OH (and her mum) are mega book readers. When the opportunity arose to get a kobo free witht he WHS glitch a while back (is that still working by the way? lol) they both ummed and arred in the same way. They did eventually take the plunge and both love them and wouldn't part with them for the world.

Yep my DW has the Kobo from the Staples glitch, and likewise wouldn't part with it, except when DS2 hides it after he's been told off :rotfl::rotfl:.

    Hehe thanks fourp!
When I saw the nurse last week she mentioned Stoptober - I did consider asking her why my quit date couldn't be put back so I'd be a Stoptober Quitter... but then that would've been a typical smoker thing to do! :rotfl:

I'm one of these people who goes in to work with a cold. I have to go in unless I'm really really ill.
The policy here is you're allowed 3 times sick in a 12 month period, upon the 4th time you get a disciplinary and could be dismissed.
So am I heck as like wasting a day off for a cold!
