That looks a nice bike, but for the life of me, I still do not know why anyone would need a triple chainset, unless they were planning a mountain stage of the Tour de France. How on earth did we manage back in the eighties with 52 x 42 and a 13 - 21 block on the back?0 -

Stiff-upper-lip barely a-quiver with knee injuries? ;-)
I think that knee injuries were more down to saddle position and shoe plates fitted in the wrong position, as well as bent pedal spindles (the first things to go in a crash). Our club hill climb was a 1 in 4 gradient and you could easily get up that in 42 x 18/19.0 -

bikes from halfords are not very good there just bottom range

The Boardman range is highly regarded across nearly all price points.
I would not buy any bike from halfords but I would get a Boardman.
