EDF FIT application nightmare
Hi all,
I had a solar panel array fitted on July 20th, sent all the relevant docs both electroniclay and by registered post on the 24th. Recieved an acknowledgement on 27th July.
Today Sept 22nd got a letter telling me I had not filled in one box correctly and would not be put on to the tarriff on application date so any energy generated up to then was void. The present tarriffs would now apply as this will be considered as a new application.
What do I do now?:(

did you fill it out wrong?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

It seems harsh that they don't make contact to clarify the item. I suggest you check the t&c's to see if this scenario is mentioned.
FIT is part of the Standard Licence Conditions (SLC) by Ofgem but it doesn't cover this scenario other than saying the terms must be clear & understandable to you.
The date you used to commence from, was it a retrospective date? If so, I can't see why they can't add you to the Central FIT Register using this original date but I don't know if there is something in the industry process which prohibits this.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi All,
Thanks for the replys. Yes I did omit to signing one section (5) this was to state that I did not have more than 25 generation units!
The application was for my home and stated exactley that, but EDF state that "Rules is rules and we don't make them"0 -
Have a read through 4.9 and 7 in the FIT t&c's.

It seems to suggest they have the option of termination but it doesn't suggest it is mandatory.
Surely as long as your opening reading remains the same, it could be agreed that the date could be moved, thus still receiving the FIT value up to the next reading?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I have lodged a formal complaint with EDF regarding their handling of this farago and will now wait and see what developes. I called round to see the installers and they assured me that the original date MUST stand. As I said I will await. Thanks for the reply's.0

Mine took over 3 months to be processed, but it was backdated to the receipt date of the application, which I'd sent by RD, knowing EDF of old.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Update !!
EDF refused to back down so I went to my installer and had a good old moan. They got on the phone straight away and let rip, suffice to say JOB DONE! So don't ever give up . Thanks for YOUR support.0 -
Boots - any chance you could PM (Private message) me some details - I've had a similar problem and got the same flannel. Would be useful to be able to say to them that they've change the rules for one so are being unfair in holding out on me.
Fully understand if you don't want to!Adventure before Dementia!0 -
My application was delivered 30/7/12. eDF claim my declaration is missing but failed to tell me until mid September so no way to rectify by 1/8/12 deadline. eDF won't honour 21p and 25 years.
Boots174 - who was your installer and how did they get eDF to back down?
WestonDave - are you getting anywhere?0 -
Have only just found your post, (having previously complained bitterly to EDF; OFGEM, and the Office of the Energy Ombudsman) for what appears to be my identical problem.Update !!

Would be very interested to hear about your dates in full as I am still awaiting a ruling from EDF, whose legal department is "reviewing the problem" with OFGEM0
