  • hi, congrats on addressing your debts, just wanna say £10 a day AND Sky is a little bit more of a luxury than i've found I could afford myself whilst dealing with my debt, personally I have found it addictive hammering it with everything Ive got, the time it takes me is more important than treats as i truly want to be debt free asap. We are 2 adults, 1 sprog and spend £20 less pm than you, cut that down, get rid of sky, be mean and go £5 a day and truly bash your debts. Just my opinion but seriously more pain now, more gain sooner.

    Good luck :-)

    Hey Betty

i'm hoping I find it addictive too.. i'm just easing myself in at the moment as personally i'm in a bit of low state with my long-term relationship ending etc.. I don't want to go in to hard and fast and fail :( I think between now and xmas I will try my £10 a day and aim not to spend it at all and then new year cut it x

  • Ok so I didn't go out with my friends last night, I went to the shop with £10 bought myself some chocolate and a bottle of wine and a scratchcard...and won £10 on the scratch card:j

So £10 in the debt payment pot :D I've also applied for some christmas work this morning, they were only offering a couple of hours but It will get me out of the house, stopping wandering the shops buying stuff and would give me at least an extra £100 a month for 3 months so fingers crossed! which would put me well on the way to paying the smaller card off

    Bank Balance: £115.77 (phone £20 & car ins £25.44 due) :D
    owed to me: £30
    Spending pot: £180.00
    Debt Payment Pot: £10

    TOTAL: £335.77

So the plan of action for the week:

    • Ring Santander and pay them £110.33 and explain i'm doing my own DMP (Scared!)
    • See if I can find any other xmas jobs to apply for
    • Bag up my bucket of coppers to take into the bank tomorrow
    • Check my car insurance - i'm not sure if its 10 payments or 12 (here's hoping ts £10)
    • Write to the management company again about a payment plan and send them £100 out of the spending pot.
    • Dig out some old phones and see if I can get any money for them
I've got no nights out arranged this week so I'm going to aim high - 6 days NSD!

  • Ohhh... good luck with your 6 NSD's, can be done with planning :)

I was just thinking about your sky, as you don't want to give it up could you ring them saying you want to cancel and see what money off they can give you? I don't have sky myself but have friends & family who have been given months free etc. to stay with them.

You could get your food bill down by £40 easy. OH and I eat comfortably on £150 a month.
  • Welcome! We're in similar boats so understand your want for luxuries to soften the blow but realistically your Sky account could be downgraded. I was on the £32 a month plan. That include landline, broadband & the basic tv package.

Also, your food budget... Does that include lunches?

    Evening Folks

So I might be a bit full on with the old diary but I need to be to make sure i'm focused!

So today I lost most of the day to this website! :rotfl:

I went over to my parents for dinner so i've not eaten any of my own food today :D

I'm just finishing bagging up my coppers which I will lug into work with me tomorrow. £5! :D

I've applied for another christmas job so heres hoping a lot of them say retail experience not necessarily needed so i'm going to stay positive!

I've also applied for some more full time jobs this afternoon i figure the more money I can earn doing what I already do will help.

I have lunch all ready for tomorrow so aiming for another NSD

Night all! what a weekend of revelation! i'm knackered!
