And if you have an accident or a heart attack I presume it will be a private ambulance with private paramedics who will take you to your private hospital?chuckles1066 wrote: »And I have a private health care plan that I pay for so any care I need as an OAP is covered. By me.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
the OP had a valid question in asking IF this might be covered by some insurance she or her friend (not the persin whos car was ACCIDENTALLY damaged) might have...... but this thread has been hi-jacked whos sole reason de-tre (sp) is to prevoke an arguement, meaning this thread might be locked!
I will keep the rest of my opinions to myself but wish we could report this withoout having to report post as it seems so harsh.....I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
Maybe i'm just underestimating the average 7 year old but i've a 7 year old nephew. I'll probably see him over Easter and when i do i'll see if he can actually physically throw a brick 6 feet in the air. my money is on a blatant 'not a chance'. we're not talking just over a 6ft wall here though, we're talking over a 6ft wall clear enough to hit a car parked on the other side. i'll even park mine next to the wall and park it the usually distance away from a wall that i would normally.
Don't forget, we're not talking about a 7 year old throwing a brick 6ft in the air, we're talking about it going up and across. Plus if a 7 year old was trying to throw a brick over a 6ft wall my guess is they'd turn their back to the wall and try and throw it over their head... probably hit themself on the barnet with the brick as well.
Somebody mentioned that an insurance company wouldn't see it as an accident (or something). I wouldn't either i'd see it as a complete scam trying to have some damage repaired on the cheap.
Same kind of thing happened when i was the OP's sons age. I was walking down the road near my house with my sister throwing stones. A car pulled up and asked where i lived and wanted to speak to my mum as one of the stones had hit his car. My mum was standing at the door watching us (as we were only 7 & 9), saw a bloke get out of his car and ran over.
He told my mum that one of the stones i was throwing had cracked his windscreen. Now seeing as i was only about 7 my mum was pretty sure i couldn't throw a stone hard enough to crack a windscreen so she had a look at it..... the crack was on the inside of the window..
Were there any witnesses that saw the brick hit the car? has the lad admitted that he hit the car with a brick or is everybody taking the neighbours word for it that he damaged the car with a brick?0 -
The other childs mum told me that this had happened when my DS was dropped back to me. I was a little suprised when i saw the wall but i also know how determined the average boy can be if encouraged. No one saw the brick hit the car but looking at the marks i have no doubt due to the dust marks that it made contact.
what suprised me was that the marks are really far away from each other i do not see how one brick landing can create the marks that have been made as they are horizontaly really far apart. The other boys mum assures me that there was only one brick thown so this is what i must assume is correct.
But yes i have to say i have my doubt about the entirety of the story.
The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D0 -
I really don't think the cars owner is going to come up with a story like that do you???? A brick come flying over my wall & hit my car, these children did it.
The car was the other side of the wall,
The bricks were near where the boys were playing,
The car has brick damage
& the boys admited they threw the bricks.
You have had a lot of stick about trying to get out of your responsibilities, a post like above will only confirm that those posters were correct in their judgement of you.0 -
I have strese this point exactly to my child today as the other mum has been doing with her son.
being that they are both 7 they do not yet understand the concept of coincidence, allthough tey ahve had a hard lesson in this over te last two days. they had no intention to commit vandalism and given thier age thinking ahed is not a stong point. he was crying hiseyes out when he got home as he knew he had done wrong but the fact that they were able to tel the truth about what they had done let me know that i was not doing so bad as a parent
Just to refresh your memory...........0 -
OP I apologise for contributing to the deterioration of this thread.
It seems to me that you are trying to ensure your son learns from his mistake, which is probably the best thing that will come out of this.
Good luck.No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -

You were saying..............?
As your obviously so smart, what are you doing reading posts on this website. Surely you are so perfect you don't need help or advice. I hope its not idle curiosity? That would be a criminal waste of your superior brain-power!
Perhaps your time would be better spent doing charity work to help those less fortunate than yourself - ie, in your opinion - everybody else!keep smiling,

so you're saying a 7 year old lad could throw a brick 6 feet? I'm not saying it didn't happen i'm saying it's pretty difficult for a 7 year old to launch a brick over twice his own height.
Why wouldn't the car owner come up with a story? damage to car and kids playing with bricks. Like the OP says the dust was a fair distance apart.0 -
