Any advice here would be great please.
My 7yo son was invited to play at a friends house yesterday, they were left outside to play and they were playing with bricks (dont go there!) and to cut a long story short a neighbours car was damaged.
The damage is likely to come to about £700 the other mum and i have agreed to go halves on the repair bill.
like most people i really could do without a £350 repair bill right now so what i was hoping is that there may be some part of house insurance that maycover this kind of thing. As it was not my house i dont have relevant documents so cant check. I am so gutted that this has happenned my son has never been in any kind of trouble at school or anything so please do not draw conclusions about him it just seems he is incredibly easy to influence.
I really would appreciate any advice

Oh dear. I've got an easily-influenced son as well.
Mind you, this kind of thing happens to the best of them. My friend up the road had a similar problem with her daughter, who has to be one of the most sensible girls around. She and a friend were playing tennis and the ball hit a neighbour's car window and broke it. It's life, I'm afraid.Ellie

I can't give you any advice but I just wanted to say it's good to see a parent taking responsibility for their child's misdemeanors. Too often you see people trying to wriggle out of it. Your son might not be an angel but you have just taught him a valuable lesson about consequences and if he gets pocket money I would half it for a couple of months.0

He has a whole list of new chores to do t teach him that he has to work to earn and that has to pay for the damage he has caused.
he is fine with most of them but was none to impressed when i presented him with rubber gloves and a poop scoop and told him that it was now his job to clean the garden after his puppy had "used" it.
if that dosent teach him then nothing will. The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D0 The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D0

You obviously weren't reading the same post as me?
Her son caused £700 of damage to the neighbour's car. She's already managed to get that amount halved, courtesy of the neighbour.
Now it's a "can I claim the rest off of someone else's home insurance".
 Why?
Why should other customers from the same insurance company face increased premiums?
And the phrase "he is incredibly easy to influence" is used all too readily as an excuse for anti-social behaviour these days.
The OP needs to take responsibility for her child's actions (a novel concept with the current generation I'll grant you) and cough up.You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0

Do you want to read it again???
The two mothers of the boys involved are going halves on the repair bill. where is she not taking responsibility?
I don't blame her for asking if there is anyway it can be claimed on the house insurance it's a lot of money to find for a child's accident.0

If the neighbours car insurance will repair the damage, I would offer to pay half of the excess.
He/she may have protected no claims bonus as well. Maybe 'unfair' but insurance is there for a purpose.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0

You mean "someone else should pay"?
 Yep, that's about right.
Whatever happened to taking responsibility for the actions of your children?
It's a sound concept............it was important in the generation that I was brought up in.You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

Why should the car owner pay higher insurance for years because of this. The mothers are going halves to pay and that is best all round, she should be praised for doing the right thing.Barclaycard 3800
