No, not really any room anywhere else. DH is away 3/4 nights a week anyway, and we tend to have music on when we're eating rather than the TV so we do speak to each other. I am determind it will be back in action for December, as we have got family coming and we haven't been able to have any friends or family round for feeding since June :eek:lessonlearned wrote: »This made me smile and brought back memories of my "on-site" days. That sounds like it was fun!lessonlearned wrote: »...OH and I also had a very "frank and open" discussion with OH's consultant on Tuesday - the one that's in charge of his rehab care....She was extremely frank with my OH. She didn't come out and say 'You're dying" but she did say that the new medicines were "the medicines of desperation" and that, given the further decline in his condition, there would be no turning things round, no going back. She admitted to him that it was a case of "ensuring you get the possible care we can give you in order to keep you comfortable".
I was very concerned that extinguishing all hope like this would distress him but he has accepted the inevitable. When we talked later he told me she was only reinforcing what he already knew.
What a man. The patience of a saint and the courage of a lion, all wrapped up with humour and grace.
I certainly chose a good 'un....
It certainly sounds like it LL. Big hug to you and your lovely OH :grouphug: I guess he has had time to think and come to terms with everything that is going on, just as you seem to be doing.
Been to Boots tonight & started the Christmas shopping - £120 spent and 1 present bought!! Lots of stuff bought on offer & on the night to get the extra points though, I earned myself £29 worth!Need to do a Clubcard voucher exchange & get niece's Christmas & birthday (mid Jan) presents, so that balances things a bit. Did Tesco shop online, so only bought what we need, not what I fancy
so that saved a few bob too. I've decided what else I'm buying, and we've got lots of home-made preserves for gifts too, so I think I'll be done soon!
DH is planning to be busy this weekend, so am hoping to be able to sort out my wardrobe properly under cover of cleaning the bedroomNeed to make sure he's busy as his birthday card & presents for December are hidden at the back
I will also (promise, Guides Honour!) remove the old polish on my toe nails & re-do them, as well as defuzzing my legs. Dh is off to Anfield in the afternoon, so I will have a leisurely soak in the bath with a smelly candle, Dermot O'Leary on the radio, a glass of wine and a book while he's out
Have got lots of stuff to go on Ebay, and am likely to have some more when I've had a sort out0 -
Well I have been missing for a while but I am getting on that old fabbing horse with a steely determination and a twinkle in my eye!:j
I have weighed myself this morning and have quite a bit to lose, but I have got the Paul McKenna journal and cd so am getting cracking with that today (keep your fingers crossed for me)
I am off to DS special needs school this afternoon to make some Christmas decorations with him so am looking forward to that.
I know its not new year but feel that from today its a new start,
I have been feeling down in the dumps for some time now with one thing and another, I have realised its only me that can change this, no-one is going to do it for me
Hope you all have a sparkly fab friday xDetermined to save, save, save

That's for your DH, LL. I couldn't help think of that lion when you told us about him. What a star!
Good to hear you feeling so positive !!!!!! and good to 'see' you.
I had a great day out yesterday, we really enjoyed the Pre Raphaelites. Unfortunately my back startaed playing up later in the evening. It didn't spoil the day and fortunately I always carry my pills with me (worn disc bothers me sporadically). Result was I slept like a log but had to really force myself to get going this morning. Fab Friday came up trumps and I did my make up carefully and dressed well to pretend I wasn't really still asleep!:rotfl:
I'm loving hearing about the Christmas numbers and so pleased you're feeling better sparkles. You must have been off work for several weeks.
ww. haven't noticed you posting this week. Is your 'date' this weekend?
Back soon.0 -
maman - I've been off for 5 weeks and have started with a cold today! Feel better though and can easily cope with this after the flu/virus for all those weeks. Going back on Monday at long last on reduced hours to make sure I'm ok to get back to work. Pretty sure I'll be ok and looking forward to getting back to normal again!
I have done a lot of walking today - over 3 hours running errands and so on and feel better for all that fresh air too. Car went through the MOT and service ok - phew!
Ebay photos taken today in case its free listing weekend as need some funds for the car in the new year - car tax and timing belt along with cc repayments
Tomorrow's plan will be a nice long walk in the morning with mr dog - who has been groomed today and is looking all short and neat and smelling fab for once! Then off to town for a look and collect the last lot of sale clothes and then decide what to keep and what to return then wait for an ebay collection to be made. Might do some baking tomorrow - banana cake to use up some out of the freezer and then start tea and I'm trialling a cheese and onion pie recipe for this weekend.
Not sure what I'll do on Sunday yet - will have a think about it tomorrow. Oh yes, will be listing on ebay for a few hours if its freefinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
I've only blo*dy done it!!! Got to my target of 9 and a half stone:j:j:j 1 lb off this week so I'm officially there!:)
To celebrate I'm having a pizza and a glass of wine:o
Will be good tomorrow .....
Have been really really busy at work - either at open evenings, afterschool lessons or working at home - been keeping up with you but not really having time to post.
Maman - had some disappointing news today - the "date" was tomorrow but the fella phoned today, after being in touch every day this week, in a complete flap - his dad has been taken in to hospital (sounds quite serious) and so of course can't make it. He was very apologetic but these things happen.:( We'll rearrange for another time.
So no excitement to report here.....
Have cancelled the hair appt for tomorrow as it was only a wash and blowdry and will find something else to do instead. Never mind..... been happy by myself for ages now so nothing really lost.
Going to have a nice bath, watch the rugby (wales v samoa) and do a bit of maintainence fabbing (defuzzing, filing nails, face scrub).
Got paid yesterday so will also have a look at the finances and start thinking about Xmas:eek:lessonlearned wrote: »What a man. The patience of a saint and the courage of a lion, all wrapped up with humour and grace.

Yes you did! Sounds like an absolutely fabulous human being. xx0 -
Missing in Action again. Been rather sluggish and yuk, but on the way up again after no voice for over a week!.
I am going to Paris tonight. Booked the tunnel for the car, and a hotel today. Spare of the moment thing. So I will be very tired, but I hope it will be worth it.
On the fab side, I have had my hair done on Tuesday, and defuzzed and moisturised today. Packed my best dress (the one in the picture the other week), and heels for dinner. Jumpers and Tshirts for the sightseeing. So excited at doing something so off the cuff.
BF wasnt sure but I just did it anyway. So he will just have to come. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Well done you. You have now officially graduated.....
Sorry to hear about your date. Perhaps later.
Well I'm just having a little break....
It's been manic here.
Have been dealing with the pre-contract enquiries for the solicitor and am having a major panic because I cannot find my power of attorney for OH. (No solicitor doesn't have a copy because we did it ourselves).
It won't matter for the house sale because OH can still just about scrawl his initials, so that's what we did today, getting a nurse to act as witness so as not to hold things up. However, I will have to find said POA or get it done again. Cue a major sort out of my desk. I will have to go through every single file to try and find it.
Still I shall use the time to implement a major declutter of desk, files etc. It's going to take some time.:o
DS2 is off for the next 14 days so cue some serious decluttering, trips to the tip etc. DS1 coming for the weekend so will get him to go in the loft and give me a yay or nay on his stuff.
However, I think it may not be quite that simple. Apparently he has something he "needs to discuss with me". I have a feeling he is considering coming back to live with his mum for a while.
Either that or he has finally met the love of his life:rotfl::rotfl:
That would be nice.....
Anyway back to work - supposed to be file sorting:( Maybe time for a glass of something to make it easier or perhaps I should wait until this evening's pile is done.0 -
That's for your DH, LL. I couldn't help think of that lion when you told us about him. What a star!
Ahh that's nice.
Where did you see the Pre-Raphaelites. They are gorgeous aren't they. I love the richness of the colours. Is there a special exhibition on where they are all in one place.
I've seen some at the Lady Lever gallery in Port Sunlight and some
in Birmingham as well some in the National Gallery.
I remember being absolutely stunned when I first saw the original of the "The Scapegoat". It made me really understand the term. Well they do say a picture paints a thousand words.
I was watching "Flog It" the other day and they were showing some of the ceramics at the V&A. So beautiful. I absolutely adore the V&A - I could hole up in there for a week just mooching round the galleries.:rotfl:
Just lock me in and throw away the key and I would die happy.
G'night all.0 -
Morning fabbers!
I feel like such a philistine reading the posts about art etc - I wouldn't know a pre-raphaelite if it slapped me in the face!:o
The "date" man emailed at 1am (didn't want to wake me up) and it seems that his dad is really not looking very good. Made me feel bad for being disappointed about the weekend. Just need to be someone to talk to for him at the moment - anything else can wait.
No real plans for today other than the usual shopping, cleaning and dog walking. I'll be bored stiff by mid afternoon:rotfl:May go swimming to give me something to do.
Did a bit of fabbing last night - just bath, defuzz, toenails and general scrubbing. Will sort my fingernails today and maybe have a little sort through my wardrobe. Life in the fast lane .......0 -
I've just fabbed my nails up which are still splittling away after the flu and popped on a coat of nail strengthner again.
Just waiting for the weather to clear up and I'm off to town for an hour to walk around. Have on a nice bright pink top with some purple pansies on which has cheered me up and it looks nice too - cost about £6 in the sale opposed to £25 - not worth full price as usual.
Feeling much better and today will be lots of ebay listing, bit of cleaning and usual longer dog walk and feeling happier about the car savings plan I've devised to make life easier next year/
WW - apologies, I forgot to mention - well done on your weight loss, I bet you look great!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550
