Tattoo removal

  • I had an awful 'playboy bunny' design removed from my back a couple of years ago. It was very painful but like most people have said it's only a few minutes and I think I just bit/grabbed onto the pillow I was lying on.

One tip though, after 2 sessions I needed a break as I was quite shocked at how it looked, bleeding and very sore I had to go and get dressing from a supermarket and never booked another appointment. Six months later it had completely disappeared on it's own. So before you pay out for too many sessions definitely wait and see as I think after the treatment a certain amount of ink will disperse on its own.

Also some lasers are better than others and I did a lot of research to make sure it would have maximum effect and they used a Q-Switched laser at Berkshire Skin Clinics. I'm very pleased I did it and it left no scar / marks at all.

Im just scared about crying n embarrassing myself, I can imagine my eyes filling up with water n looking a tool lol
  • I have a black chinese love symbol on my right arm (looked like a prison tat apparently) that i have had for 10 years, so i decided to have it removed.

I looked around 4 different places and then picked the one i liked the best and felt most comftable in.
the prices ranged from £29 - £60 a session as well depending on the place and i have learnt that it is deffo not about finding the cheapest place that is for sure!

I have had 3 sessions so far as each session is 6 - 8 weeks apart so it can be quite a long process. they have guessed that mine will take between 6 - 10 session max.

It feels like an elastic band been flicked over and over, but you'll find that if you keep talking while they are doing it it helps you forget about it. :o

it takes literally 1 minute 45 seconds to laser my tattoo which is about 130 shots from the laser, so as painful as it is it is over quite quickly.

after the first 2 sessions it went red then a couple of days later it looked like a bruise. then back to normal and you dont really notice much on yourself although it is still working and starting to break the ink down.
on the 3rd session it seemed to hurt me more and the next day it had a massive water blister over it. however once this went down after 4 days or so it then scabbed over and as the scab started to fall off the difference was incredable.

im not sure if we can post pictures on here, however i did a little photo collage of my progress so far - its on instagram (hollypop86), i'll see if i can get the link to show you. http://instagram.com/p/PWPfCZDfZO/?fb_source=og_snowlift_photo_user_message

?fb_source=og_snowlift_photo_user_messageso even though i still have a few sessions to go its totally worth it and you can stop at any time if you only want 1 session then only have 1, it wont reverse itself and go back to been black ever.

Reason enough to never have a tramp stamp!

Or be stupid enough to get a tatoo at all, and if you are stupid enough to get one reasearch it thouroughly, find the best possible tatooist and NEVER, EVER get a partners name tatooed no matter how loved up you are.

I'm trying to get rid of a star on my hip, that got a bit stretched and horrid after 2 pregnancies. I'm using some cream thingy thats supposed to break down the ink, as I couldn't afford the laser removal or tolerate the pain!

    You have been ripped off...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

How am I being ripped off?
  • I'm currently having laser treatment & have my second session tomorrow. The test patch - where they only laser a tiny part to see how it will react - was *very* painful, far more than getting the tattoo done. Mine is on my right shoulder & takes 20 minutes each time, but now I use Ametop Gel which he applies 30 minutes before & with that it's totally fine & not even uncomfortable, however some places won't use it saying that it will swell up & affect the treatment.

If it's small you should be able to cope for a few minutes, I could have the test patch done again without it which was maybe 5 minutes. They won't know if you cry as there's only you & the person doing it in the room, they will be watching the area being lasered & both of you will have glasses on too!
  • Yes it will hurt you more than having the tattoo in the first place but it won't be that painful.

I have a birthmark and have had in the region of 28-30 treatments to try and get rid of it and all (apart from the first two) without any pain relief - I tried the Emla cream but it didn't work.

Yes mine hurt - but it's on my face not on my finger!

I know everyone's pain threshold is different but basically - don't be a wimp.

Sorry if I sound blunt but it's only on your finger - try having it done around your eye, around your nose, on your top lip - then you'll know what pain is.......depending on the laser I had (which is the same as for tattoo removal although stronger) then I was having around 400-500 of those "zaps" at a time which took up to 45 mins depending on the doctor/nurse giving the treatment.

I wish that I only had a small area (like a finger) to get rid of but I don't and no laser works for me at the moment so I have to live with it.

Good luck but sorry - not a lot of sympathy from me.

How can a cream break down the ink that is deep in the skin...unless it contains acid..;)

  • I'd imagine the finger to be a painful area as there's a hell of alot of nerve endings, just being stitched there was terrible & more painful than the face. Lasers for cosmetics I believe aren't as painful as for tattoos according to all i've spoken to but I only have experience of tattoo ones myself
