I have booked into a clinic on Tuesday for a consultation and hopefully start of getting my tattoo removed. Its a 5 letter name and in black so im told it should hopefully only take 4 sessions. My question is how painful is it??? the guy on the phone told me its meant to be VERY painful, he said its 4 times more painful than having the tattoo done. Is it really that bad and if so how long does each treatment take....i'm bricking it! lmao :rotfl:

I didnt think it was suppose to be anywhere near that bad. My bf has had 4 sessions on one of his. Says it feels like someones twanging an elastic band on you. The first few times nothing much happen but on his 4th go it all went blistery and yucky looking but it went back down again a few days later. He hasnt go any more on it as he's getting it covered up anyways.Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0

I accidently zapped one of my tattoos with my laser hair removal machine and that was bad enough....I almost went through the roof :rotfl:£2019 in 2019 challenge:£50/2019

It's the most painful thing I have ever had done, so much so I have decided to keep my tattoo rather than go back for more treatment. It is like being zapped with a hot elastic band dot by dot.....0

I think the pain level depends where it is...mine was on my thigh, and the higher up it got the more it stung - however they had a little tube you could hold near the tat whie they zap you that blows cold air out - that helped loads for me, the cold just took the edge off and made it uncomfortable rather than painful....mine was 8 letters long and a session was about 5-7 minutes, so short enough to just grit my teeth anyway, and sooooo worth it to get rid of a tattoo that makes you so unhappy.0

I'm in the process of having two tattoos removed - both on my back - one is about 1"sq and the other is about 2" x 4". I've had 6 sessions and they are almost gone, though I was told it can take 8-12 sessions.
It is quite painful, but as other posters have said, it's very quick. You can also get cream called Emla Cream (I got mine in Boots, @ the prescriptions counter) which helps numb the area - one time I forgot to buy some and had to go without, I could really tell the difference!!
It is like being snapped by an elastic band but I don't think it's anywhere near as painful as actually getting the tattoo, so if you survived that you'll be ok with the removal!!

Oh god bit worried now. Its on my wedding finger, black and 5 letters long. I didnt find having any of my tattoos too painful, just felt like beng deeply scratched but this sounds more painful. I should be ok I think, ive had 4 c-sections with no pain relief after the epidural wore off and was up and walking round with all of them as soon as I got feeling back in my legs so my pain threshold isn't too bad..........still bricking it though lmao0
