Euro Bank Account

I am not looking at transferring any significant amount into euros just enough for any cash we might need when we are touring Europe in our motrohome
"No mention was made of sending money from a UK GBP account."
Actually it was.
Touring Europe in a motorhome can eat the cash even if the fuels on your card (I Know)0 -
I was guessing as a long shot he came to a money saving web-site to - you know
save money.
Don't dismiss thinking inside the box

No, nothing in his comment suggested he would be sending money from a GBP account to a EUR account. Paying on a card (e.g. Halifax Clarity) is very different.Bob_the_Saver wrote: »"No mention was made of sending money from a UK GBP account."

I may have got this wrong, but if he's not transferring it from a GBP account where is he transferring it from? Or maybe he's going to trot down to the ATM, take the Euro's out on a credit card, pay it into a Euro bank account just so he can spend it in....Euro's! :rotfl:
No doubt parking for free just outside the bank in his motorhome. :T0 -
He's not transferring money at all. He never said anything about doing that; only you did.Bob_the_Saver wrote: »I may have got this wrong, but if he's not transferring it from a GBP account where is he transferring it from?0 -

It starts with a t it ends in a g, what the heck is that word then?
He's looking to transfer just enough money, ie SOME money and I'm guessing more than the small amount he gets sent in Euros (unless he's a lot tighter than even I am!)0 -
Ah, do you mean he can't spell changing so has put transferring?0

The OP had already suggested he wanted to avoid being charged for an incoming SWIFT payment, so the suggestion of using another UK account with similar fees was inappropriate.
Call me crazy, but I'd rather take a once-a-year £17.50 hit than open and operate a German bank account in mostly German, and then pay transfer fees to send money over to it...
Which although you're insisting they never said they would do, Bob the Saver has quoted several times where they have said, in these EXACT words "I am not looking at transferring any significant amount into euros just enough for any cash we might need when we are touring Europe". Which I agree, is a ridiculous thing to do if you own a Clarity card, but you are the one throwing a strop because others weren't blindly following the OPs wishes... Though saying that, if you want to go to such length to avoid fees, they really shouldn't ever use the Clarity for cash withdrawals - use a Metro Bank/N&P debit card.0 -

Given the context, this did not indicate a bank transfer from a GBP account to a EUR account. I think the OP meant something else. Perhaps he would like to clarify.callum9999 wrote: »in these EXACT words "I am not looking at transferring any significant amount into euros just enough for any cash we might need when we are touring Europe".0
