Ran out of chips for lunch so had to get some from the corner shop.£1.89 for a little bag....what a rip-off! Problem is my freezer is full of naan breads from Approved Food so I can't get to the bottom to see what I've got hiding in there. By the way, if anyone has some ideas what I could do with the naan's except for having with curry obviously that would be great.:D0

Hi, spent all morning making french onion soup, bread and stuck a gammon in the slow cooker. Took kiddies swimming, came home ate the soup and will have the gammon later with LOs tomorrow to go in a carbonara. Some black bananas have gone in the freezer and will see about banana ice cream later.
Feel a lot better for doing this and know that we should get through to friday no problem and should spend less this week on groceries. I WILL COME UNDER BUDGET!!!!! (if I write it big it might come true lol)
Have a good afternoon,

Re: things to do with naans - I personally always used to sprinkle garlic oil on mine and serve with uncle bens microwave rice (the mixed pepper one)
I know its not incredibly creative but worth a go.

I often use naan as a pizza base.0

warm naan is nice with soup if that helps, also, what about a spicy savoury bread pudding type thing? I've had kebabs served in naan before so maybe use as a sort of wrap?
ok - so my spends this week total pop in tesc0 £8.00 (I really need to dealw ith the addiction), fruit and veg in a!di plus I snuck in a pack of pasta and pasata for the store cupboard £5.54 and bread from tesc0 £2.00 so I'll round up to £16.00.
we didnt quite stick to the meal plan but we did pretty much eat from the freezer fridge and pantry with the usual take out one night and I had a restaurant meal on monday and went to a friends house on thursday so the usual amount of meals were covered off. really pleased with how this week has gone. we've got a silverside of beef from the freezer for dinner tonight and that will cover off lunches tomorrow and probably dinner tomorrow night too if I can get away with it (husband doesnt like the same type of meals in quick succession but I might be able to disguise as a stew!). It's a yellow stick jobbie that I got for £2.09 ages ago not bad for almost a kilo of very nice looking meat! off to do signature. have a good week everyone!Blah0 -
spent £2.20 in asda today. just on water n a battery for my clock (and some maltesers that just fell into my hand :rotfl:)
also spent far too much money buying new jacket/suitcase for london but they dont count in this as they cant be eaten
one more sleep!! :j0 -
So my second spend of the month came in at £14.75, including some extravagant (feeling!) dried fruit and some spices to add to my non-existent storecupboard. It helps that I have boxes of tea and cereal left over from last week when they were both on 2 for £x, plus I got a ready meal reduced down to 89p for a cba to cook day.
So that's a total of £31.28 spent out of my £80 budget. I'm quite pleased with that, but have also realised my month (1st - 1st) will need to cover 5 weekly shops not 4 :eek:GC Oct: £71.22/£80 = £8.78 left0 -
I haven't updated since April 25th I don't think!
Stats then:
Year budget - £1320
Year spent - £482.87
Year left - £837.13
I have sorted through all of the receipts (I am sure it is all of them if not will add later) and since then we have spent £539.24.
Year budget - £1320
Year spent - £1,022.11
Year left - £297.89
This means we are slightly over budget for the year at the moment. However we have a basically full freezer, rather full cupboards, don't need to buy any cleaning products and most toiletries etc are fine stock wise etc. The chinchillas also have plenty of sand, hay and food - enough until the end of the year for sure. The year budget has basically evened out which is what I thought would happen if we did a yearly budget.
Do need to make sure I keep a track of the budget more often.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0
