We're experimenting this week (still in September budget) with OH doing the meal planning and shopping, with an agreed budget of £55, so to keep it consistent, I'll aim for £55 a week again or £220 in October. Looks like an increase from September but it's only cos we were away for a week. Think I'll be a bit sad the next five weekend month though if I have to increase itdo other people budget more for a five week month or just try and spend less every week?
As usual, money spent covers food, groceries and toiletries for me and OH (an unwilling victim of my grocery thriftiness :rotfl:) and food and litter for our cat.
I budget for food per week so my monthly amount is higher on 5 week months - that's why when I quote the amount I'm budgeting for this thread, I'll always say it's a 5 week month - it makes me feel better anyway.

Good morning, the sun is shining here so hopefully get out in the garden today! Went to L!dl yesterday and spent £103 but got loads including their chicken breasts, which are HUGE. I made a chicken curry last night with two breasts and even managed to save a portion to stick in the freezer
. I think it also helps that I make a lentil dhal as a side dish so it looks like more but is cheaper!
Also spent £8 at the local shop which should not have happened and I definitely regret the bottle of wine this morning
There are a couple of bits I need to get from MrM that I couldn't get at L!dl and I know they are on offer til tomorrow so will pop in but WILL restrain myself!
Will update siggy

First spend of Oct budget today. Attempting another new approach.
Have got a budget of £150. Have taken £140 out of the bank. Have split this into 2 x £40 and 2 x £30. (have left £10 in bank as back up) I have never attempted a weekly grocery budget before as i always thought one biggish shop and smaller weekly top ups works best as it keeps me out of the shops, but never get enough stuff to last the month so end up going back to the shops and going over budget. As i spend £80 - £100 in the first week then the £50 never lasts the next 3 weeks.
So started this week with a £40 budget, have spent £21.18 including 2 x sat papers (not cheap) and extra lotto ticket for the roll over. well you never know.
Making tuna pie today to freeze for the week, have salmon and chicken in the freezer, so going to see what i can make with chicken breasts that isnt curry.
Sorry for the ramble. but if its in black and white i am more likely to follow it, rather than just some random thoughts in my head.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -
Hey all, :hello:
Do you mind if I jump in?
Its just me and DS at home and I spend far too much on Groceries, treats for lunch boxes etc. I dont have a freezer at home which makes bulk buying and batch cooking a bit more tricky as I have to be careful not to waste! It also means I shop more often, so end up buying more stuff I dont need more often!
I just had a shop delivered on Tuesday, so Im starting October kinda well stocked but reckon I could probably managed to stick to about £250
Well, heres hoping anywaySometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying
