Rejected! Just 11 months living in the UK...

Hi all, I was filling a form online to apply for a contract with T-Mobile and I couldn't go through because I have not lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
I have been in the UK for 11 months now, working full time (permanent) for 8 months, bank account and all that.
I didn't have problem with the credit check when I rent the flat I am living in now, but seems the mobiles are different.
Is it always like this? Is there another way?

You could try another provider,
you could put down 3 years on the form,
you could buy a PAYG phone.

not all networks require 3years they just like it, try a different network, orange and virgin ive heard are the easyest
just try not to keep applying with same networks or lots of different networks

If you haven't lived in the uk for at least a year you can expect to be turned down for all kinds of credit type agreements. 3 years sounds harsh; I would expect 12 months.
I was when I came back from 5 1/2 years spent in France. Suddenly I was classified as "foreign" and nobody would touch me with a bargepole for the first year! :mad:

Yes... I already have PAYG but I wanted to get a package with loads of free minutes to call abroad (home). I saw one in /phones2udirect for a 12 months contract and 12 months free line rental (cashbacks) that sounds good, I wasn't rejected in the credit check as I didn't even completed the form :P

If your not fussed what network you go to try "3" they gave me a contract phone with a CCJ albeit only £15 a month, alternatively you could suggest (if you can afford it) a 6 month bond with the network of your choice payable back to you on the completion of the minimum term.. Worked with me and Orange some years back..

As a thank you for proving to them I was creditworthy Orange gave me a £10 a month reduction in my tariff, another free phone and phone insurance free for 12 months....

^i thought 3 would be easy too but now friends who work for 3rd parties say that 3 has become one of the harder ones and apparently virgin and orange are easier

I am not really experienced in all this. What happens if I just say I have been living here for 3 years?

I reckon they are cleaver enough to notice I just have been paying taxes for some months...

Sorry I pressed the thanks button... Won't they see as soon as they do a credit search.. Probably best to try one of the other providers and be truthful.

I had similar situation…my advice is go to any of high street retailers and apply in store… all online application require address from last 3 years…

I went for o2 with phones4u with cash back without any problems after frailer with online application…

I managed to get a contract with Orange after 6 months of being in UK; they did require a deposit from me though. However the Orange tariff and coverage were terrible so I'm with O2 now (O2 seem to be stricter with their credit scoring though)
