Write dealer a letter saying you are rejecting the car as its not as described.

    Bet the umbrella turns up.

Was it described as having an umbrella?

Sadly there are dolts on here who think thats probably a valid reason for rejecting a car.

It wouldn't be road worthy without windscreen washer tho would it?

It would be if they removed the windscreen as well ;)

I bought a 5 year old car and after a proper look the day after i found someone had driven it before me.

It gets worse.. They did over 100,000 miles in it. Do i sue the manufacturer?

How much compensation can i get?

Sorry OP but have you ever bought a car before? 2nd hand you get what you see or can haggle into the deal.

obviously mouth engaged before reading the full posts.

Going back a few years, a mate of mine was truck dealer, he'd someone on their way to look at an old ERF with faded red paint work.
It didn't get washed, it got the "diesely rag" treatment, quick wipe over with a bit of diesel, it looked like new . .
  • Buy a brolly from £1 shop. get a skoda sticker off ebay. no-one will know & we wont tell

    It's a Skoda Superb SE.
An oxymoron if ever I heard one.:D

And yes, I have owned a modern Škoda, so I've heard all the jokes, but the biggest one was the car itself... In the short time I had it the steering lock failed, completely immobilising it, the ECU failed, both electric windows failed and a repair to the water pump by a Škoda garage left the engine loose and flapping about under the bonnet. To cap it all Škoda closed several franchises local to me, and the only one that stayed open locally was the one that botched the water pump repair. I got rid of it soon after.

Not sayin' that's going to happen to yours of course, I'm just very unlucky with cars.

Trying to think of all the other bits that used to walk out the cars.
Umbrellas out the superbs, cargo nets used to walk and also DVD sat nav discs, and the tyre repair gas kits, and branded first aid kits used to go as well. Check on ebay bet there are plenty there.

The last car i sold, the dealer gave me a rock bottom price. So we stripped the car of all its "extras" and sold them on eBay.

Matching Floor Matts, Engine Cover, Tyre Stuff, Cargo Nets etc.

Made enough £££ to tax the new car for a year, though as you said the dealer would of probably done this anyhow.

Sorry, but dont try to justify your actions by saying the dealer would do it anyway.

    We dont.

How would you feel if you bought a car of his, with all the bits in place, only to come and pick it up and bits had been removed.

Chances are thats what the skodas original owner did, however now its the dealer has been a !!!! because its not present.

A valid point though - always check any options you want are present.
