Used car bought, a few things missing

Options
Hey all,

I bought a used car yesterday (yey!) 61 plate, from a main dealer. It was pee'ing down with rain and now i've had chance to look over it, there are a couple of things missing from the vehicle that the manual says should come with it. Namely:

a. It has a tyre repair kit, but there is no jack or wheelbrace - if you have a tyre repair kit, is there usually no jack or wheelbrace?

b. No warning triangle, first aid kit or fire extinguisher.

c. No umberella in passenger door - wouldn't be too bothered, but looking online the official ones are £38!

Should i go back to the dealer or am i wasting my time?

  • You don't need a wheelbrace of jack if the car doesn't have a spare tyre.

May help if you tell us what car it is. Usually nowadays, the spare wheel is an optional extra. The 'repair' kit is standard equipment. Best thing to do is check what equipment it had as standard when it was new.

Do you know whether any of these things are part of the standard equipment?

They are on the manual - that's all i know. As for the wheel brace and jack, i can understand there being no need if there is no spare wheel, i am just not sure what shuold and shouldn't come with it.

    It's a Skoda Superb SE.

Missing umbrella made me laugh, but having seen this pic I'd be a bit annoyed at it being missing as well:

Never, ever, buy a used car when it's raining. The water droplets hide a multitude of sins including dodgy paintwork, dented panels, and scratched glass. If you're interested always go back with a clear head when the sun's out. You might be horrified at what you missed on your first visit.

To be fair rain wouldn't hide what's missing here.

    a. Has been covered.

    b. the triangle, first aid kit and fire extinguisher are not required by law in the UK so Skoda don't supply them as standard only as an option.

I got the triangle from tescos and the first aid kit from Lidi. For my Octavia.

    c. The umbrella is only on some trim levels currently Elegance and above.
