Its a second hand car - was it advertised as having these items? If not then you can't really expect them to come 'as standard'.

Well, Skoda UK called me today and stated:

    a. It wouldn't come with a jack or wheel brace as tyre repair kit is included.

    b. FirstAid Kit, Warning Triangle, Fire Extinguisher, optional extras and these may not have been purchased.

    c. Umberella - was standard but previous owner may have kept it

I asked them if they could provide me with one as the car is only nine months old and the manual states it should come with one. Skoda stated it's a used car and that's how it was provided to them. They have told me to go back to the dealer and see if they can do anything for me :(

It obviously isn't a deal breaker, but Skoda charge £40 to replace the umberlla!!

Oh well, not very impressed with Skoda aftersales at the minute.

I'm sure a cheaper compact umbrella would fit in there just fine!

I am all for bashing car dealers (they deserve it most of the time) BUT really in this case what have they done wrong?

    A and B No issues

    C. even if there was a brolly the prev owner prob kept it, so why do you think the dealer should replace it FOC, its not part of the car unless it was advertised as such

So you are unimpressed because they wont buy you a brolly

It's a novelty thing. It's Skoda badged and part of the car as standard + they retail at £40 (for an umberella!!!)

The listing didn't mention it had windscreen washers, but i'd be disappointed if it didn't come with them as it was in the manual they were fitted as standard.

Like i said, this isn't a major issue, i asked the questions as i genuinally didn't know about the things i asked. I have resolved the main issue and am now going to ask if they could get me the brolly.

I won't be camping out demonstrating if the answer is no.

    :)

Write dealer a letter saying you are rejecting the car as its not as described.

    Bet the umbrella turns up.

Trying to think of all the other bits that used to walk out the cars.
Umbrellas out the superbs, cargo nets used to walk and also DVD sat nav discs, and the tyre repair gas kits, and branded first aid kits used to go as well. Check on ebay bet there are plenty there.

The dealers, drivers, and PDI techs need to subsidise the pension somehow. Theres a recession you know...

It wouldn't be road worthy without windscreen washer tho would it?

I bought a 5 year old car and after a proper look the day after i found someone had driven it before me.

It gets worse.. They did over 100,000 miles in it. Do i sue the manufacturer?

How much compensation can i get?

Sorry OP but have you ever bought a car before? 2nd hand you get what you see or can haggle into the deal.

If your book says it should have a brolly and its not got one you say i would buy it now but its not got a brolly.

Lots and lots of cars now have no spare wheel. Its either a cost option or not available at all.. S-Max etc.. No space for one..
