I get a bit confused abut Mobile Phones.
I have an old Vodaphone, which after not using it for a while it has been disconnected.
I was told in the shop yesterday that I can get free sim card if I buy a top up for £10, the lady said she would set everything up for me in the shop, and I understand all that as well as her saying that I would have to make a call once every 3 months to keep it going.
Now on the website under Pay as you go it is saying, pay 7.50 a month and you get free calls, free texts etc. etc.
Are these 2 completely separate offers. I dont want to be comitted to £7.50 a month if I only use it for emergencies.
Please see new post further down, I want to change from Vodaphone to 02

Sounds like the 7.50 a month is a sim only monthly contract.
The £10 top up sounds like a pay as you go deal.
From what you have said these are two seperate deals.0 -
6 months actually: Pay as you go airtime conditions...I understand all that as well as her saying that I would have to make a call once every 3 months to keep it going.
There are some virtual networks that run on Vodafone, but may offer better PAYG prices. You don't need to unlock your phone to use them.
Talkmobile 8p, 4p
iCardmobile 3p/6p, 5p0 -
Sorry, I made a mistake and sorry I wasted your time. I want to
change the Vodaphone to O2 network. Silly, cheapo grandson wants to be able to contact us when necessary, but he can call free on O2, ha.
calling from O2 to Vodaphone, he says costs him a fortune.........make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It's the same 180 days at O2, not 3 months.
You have to make sure that your phone isn't locked to Vodafone.0 -
what does any of this have to do with O2?0
-
Whom are you asking? Any of what?
It would make sense to quote the post that you address with such unintelligible question. If you mean the post #3
then it was a result of misunderstanding resulted from Vodafone being mentioned in the OP without a good reason. 0 -

The lady in the o2 shop said yesterday I could have a free sim card for 02 and they would deal with it for me if I took my phone into the shop. (and it was her who said 90 days, but I will mention the 180 days when I go back.
Thanks for your help.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

If I top up my O2 pay as you go phone with £10 every three months my Broadband only costs me £4.25 a month for the 1st 18 months, then after that there might be another 'deal' or if not it will be £9 a month for Broadband. when I top up the £10 I get 200 free texts for that month too.

The £7.50 a month is the Pay & Go Simplicity I believe. You top up a minimum of £10 each month to receive unlimited texts (£7.50 will be taken off your top up).

You can order a free pay and go sim here (all the tariffs are shown):
http://freesim.o2.co.uk/
If you top up £10 you get free texts, o2 calls & internet depending on your tariff. The top up is all yours (whereas simplicity takes your credit from top up) so the allowance is actually free providing you top up each month with £10 or more.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
If you only use the phone occasionally I would recommend using pay as you go. That means you top up when you need to, normally by £10 or £15. Just as a thank you for topping up, you can generally get some freebies, as well as the £10 or £15 on your phone. Depending on your tariff the freebies you get are free calls to O2, free texts or free internet. Here's an explanation of the ones they're currently offering! http://www.o2.co.uk/tariffs/payandgo
For instance I have text & web, so I sometimes top up £15 if I need the internet, otherwise I top up £10 to have free texts, or sometimes I don't top up at all and just use the credit from the phone!
You also get 10% of all the money you top up back, via O2 Rewards - you normally have to sign up for this which means agreeing to be sent some marketing texts but it means every 3 months you can claim your 10% back.
And tell your grandson he may want to get a "Your O2 numbers" bolt on which allows him to call or text 10 o2 numbers of his choice for free, for a monthly fee of £5.Saving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000
