Probably just coincidence then...That would be a 1st for me - probably best not to overtighten goggles!Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Hence my comment. I was advised this in writing by Specsavers when I started wearing lenses.0 -
Hence my comment... the professionals should be reiterating the basics each time.

None of them have ever mentioned swimming or showering to me, and I've never felt the need to ask as it's not been an issue I've seen raised before now. Why would I ask if I can wear them to swim if I've never had it mentioned, never had an issue personally and never known/read of anyone having an issue?
Exactly the same as me Nicky. And this is why the Jeremy Vine Show discussed it .
I listened to it and even he had no idea as a contact lens wearer himself that lenses shouldn't be worn to swim in .
I'm the same though my left eye is next to hopeless so I depend on my right.
pmduk I totally agree with your point that " the professionals should be reiterating the basics each time" Unti my last visit I was never told .0 -
I've been concerned about some of the recent stuff that's been in the media - I've always been very careful with my contacts and did know not to swim in them or get tap water anywhere near them - I think it's easy to get into bad habits though - like at one point Iwas keeping mine right by the sink (very small bathroom) so water was getting in splashed in etc Also difficult to clean and store when staying at someone else's house - feel horrible asking for handwash if they only have bar soap!
A couple of people have mentioned using lint-free paper towels for hands instead of a towel. I have a hand towel specifically for my own contact lense use but it only gets washed once a week with the other towels and I suspect others may use it on occaison (grr!) so would be interested in what towels or other options people use and where they store them?? The only ones I can find are either on a massive roll or you need a wall mounted dispenser thing which may be going a bit far!0 -

I dont use any towel. I prepare the daily lens ready for insertion i.e peel off the foil from the container, lay them out, wash hands thoroughly and rinse ,shake off excess water then go straight to lens and put them in. No danger then of micro foreign bits of lint.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). bit useless?? you see clearer under water. its only walking around the spa area you need specs!
but now i know where everything is i can make my way there without bumping into anything.
I don't know - if they allow you to see where you are going in safety and economically, then I'd say they were a bit useful. It's not like you are going to look out of place wearing goggles at the swimming pool.:)Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I work for a private optical practice, I'm a pre-reg dispensing optician. We have a patient on our books who was fitted for acuvue trueye on the 9.0 base curve, she input her lens details onto a web page which showed her she could get equivalent lenses for a fraction of the price. 6 months later at her aftercare appointment the lenses were a rubbish fit, sat in the wrong place and there were were limbal indentations!
The patient was shocked because "the web page said they'd be ok".0 -
