As I said earlier ours is 9cms and you certainly don't sink too far down.
No-one told us 7cm was the minimum, however when we tried a whole array of mattresses, they just felt cheap in comparison and offered little or no support at all, especially if under 7cms. They certainly didn't feel like a quality product.
We were about to give up looking and found it confusing with so many different types on offer. Thank the lord we found ours.0 -

Well it would be pretty easy to put that breach of statutory rights to the test when the only reason for not accepting it back is that it won't fit back in the impossible to repack packaging.0 -
Just returned from Sleepmasters (couldnt afford anything in Dreams) and found a (sensaform) memory 1000 mattress for £329.95. Now I asked about a deal for cash so reckon I can probably talk them down a little.
However, was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice about whether its a good buy. It's 1000 pocket springs (double) and memory foam. I do need to enquire about the density of the memory foam. I intend to go back on Thursday (after pay day) if all is well.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

To be honest it's a bit of a grey area. It's like shops won't take underwear or swim wear back.
Like I said though some sellers are sensible.0 -

There are actually a couple of threads in these forums about both sleepmasters and sensaform, so it would be worth doing a search on both.0 -
Am looking to buy a cheap but comfortable single mattress (soft to medium) for my 14 year old son it will sit on a wooden slatted base.
Any recomendations
Dont really want to pay more than £125
There are a couple of silentnights on tesco direct for (half price) £125 but I cant link to them and I dont know the firmness of them0 -

You would probably better off with a deep quilted medium mattress, as open coil springs that are too soft can bow down in the middle and curve the spine.
As for Silentnight, do a search in the MSE forums.0 -

You can get a top of the range, deep quilted, medium open coil sprung mattress for not much over £100 delivered. Or you could spend as little as £75.
My experience of open coil is that they're complete rubbish and you only get a couple of years of decent comfortable use (if you can call it that) out of them. For too many numerous reasons to mention they're a false economy.0
