I sold parts from a 1970's music centre. The rubber turntable mat, the turntable, the playing arm and stylus, parts from the cassette deck, etc
I made over £20 and helped out people who needed spare parts. I had tried to sell it for 99p twice and had no bids or watchers before I had the idea of selling the parts.
I wish I had done the same with mum's Kenw**d mixer when that burnt out. From what I've seen I could have sold most of the bits but in those days I didn't think.

  • I heard of someone who broke his dyson vac and was going to take it to the tip.

Instead he took it to pieces and sold all the bits on ebay for a tidy sum

We sold a cardboard box once. It had some stickers' on it and we used to use it for the recycling. We did an over the top description with even a little movie about it and it sold for about £4 in the end with several bidders - think we started it at 1p.

It was more something to do over a lunch hour but kept the office amused though we did have to find another box for the recycling after.
  • Well I suppose mine is not silly really.....but my microwave packed in, and I was about to take it to the tip, then as it was free listing I had an idea to sell the glass plate and the ring.....lo and behold I got quite a few bids and got £8 for it....alright for something that was heading for the tip

Whats your experiences that you've given a go with.

Wish Id tried that, my old microwave has been sat beside my bin for about a year now!

empty shoe boxes - not nice ones that you actually buy but literally just the boxes your shoes come in when you buy them. They've sold, my last one was for £6. £6 I was abotu to recycle!

    Thanks for the tip.

  • Talking of obscure things on eBay, I'm a buyer of an obscure, specific coffee machine, whenever it appears. My original, bought in the 1980s had a gold-plated, permanent, everlasting filter and made the best tasting coffee ever... then the cat knocked the glass jug to the floor and discovering we couldn't find a replacement jug that would fit the machine, that was that!

But about one machine per year turns up on eBay - usually for 99p plus postage, so it's still going strong and I've collected a spare supply of jugs, filters and machines in case the cat decides to push its luck again! ;)

  • Wish I hadn't binned my UGG Boots box now......thats the one that seems to be selling best, probably to someone who is selling fakes.
Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D
  • I once thought I'd put my tatty old slippers up for sale after someone said fettishests pay quite a bit for them.
However, I got loads of weird messages, so I just pulled the listing & binned the slippers!

Maybe some sexy stockings next time, Shaving the legs 1st may have helped :rotfl:

Sorry but if i were a woman i would be scared in case the buyer was a nut job.
Although its quite possible the buyer was some rich company director, Happily married with several kids.

    Its the thought though...

I think they expect to receive more than just the slippers, judging by the usual "extra photos available" comments on the listings.
