Well I suppose mine is not silly really.....but my microwave packed in, and I was about to take it to the tip, then as it was free listing I had an idea to sell the glass plate and the ring.....lo and behold I got quite a few bids and got £8 for it....alright for something that was heading for the tip
Whats your experiences that you've given a go with.

spares for electronics eg blenders etc are quite expensive to buy from the manufacturers and sometimes impossible to get hold of because an item may be discontinued.
I haven't sold anything silly but am thinking of selling my daughters broken DS agter seeing that they sell for over £15 just to be used as spare parts.0 -
My son has a broken one too, thanks for the suggestion, it will be going on shortly.Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

Look on youtube at all the mad inventions made from microwaves.
You can make spot welders from them. etc.
Quite funny as one guy built one and tested it on camera and all the lights dimmed when he powered it up.

I've had parts for hamster cages (the Rotastak ones) fetch surprisingly high prices. Wouldn't work so well now that Royal Mail has changed its pricing structure, unless they're small enough to go large letter. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I once thought I'd put my tatty old slippers up for sale after someone said fettishests pay quite a bit for them.
However, I got loads of weird messages, so I just pulled the listing & binned the slippers!0 -
My girlfriend. Alas, there were no bids even though it was a 99p auction with no reserve and free postage and packing....0

Is she now your ex?
Many years ago when ebay was a lot less, er, professional than it is now, I put up a fake auction. I found a tin of Sainsbury's Millenium pasta in my cupboard, a few months out of date. This stuff: http://www.dome2000.com/i/pasta-01.jpg
I did a detailed listing, extolling the virtues of its faux foil label and intricately carved shapes and how buyers should not miss out on this unique piece of milleniabillia.
Back then I was part of a usenet group and we had a right laugh with it. Loads of the other users on it with ebay accounts sent me messages and made me spoof offers to buy for silly sums.
Well, obviously I didnt get any bids but shortly after the auction ended, I was emailed by an American who has realised it was a spoof auction but said that, actually, he collected millenuim stuff and would I be willing to send it to him anyway? Bless him he was so nice. He paypal'd me a fiver to cover postage costs and I sent it off. I packaged it up in an empty millenium champagne tin I had too so he got two for the price of a bit of postage.
Oh dear, I hope Sainsbury's millenium pasta isn't worth a lot these days.

empty shoe boxes - not nice ones that you actually buy but literally just the boxes your shoes come in when you buy them. They've sold, my last one was for £6. £6 I was abotu to recycle!0

So people can sell on their own shoes that dont have boxes.0
