Sky vs BT fibre optic?

Anyone got recommendations for either one? We are leaving virgin due to constant service issues for the past 12 months (are on their fibre optic BB, do BT and Sky use different cables? Or are we likely to suffer the same consequences with them?
We are high users, with lots of downloads, so need unlimited downloads, and preferably with no traffic management/shaping etc

Its still a copper cable when it comes into your property. BT FTTC is totally separate to Virgins own closed network. All ISPs are in effect reselling BT Infinity Fibre optic broadband. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

BT do cap torrent speeds though during the daytime. Not sure if sky do or not but you can only get top speeds on torrents during the night.0

We don't use p2p downloads, is that the only thing they cap?0

yes, but sky are good at grassing you up for ilegal activityDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Try plusnet? Their Fibre extra (same as BT) costs £19.99 per month and gives you 250gb during peak times (8am to midnight, free unlimited midnight to 8am) and gives you up to 76mb download and 19.5mb upload.
Traffic is managed on Plusnet, but you can pay an extra £5 a month to *almost* run everything at full speed. Since you said you don't use p2p download - you will basically get everything at line speed.
I highly recomend them. If you are burning 250gb in a month between 8am and midnight - what the heck are you doing? ;-)0 -
virgin fibre optic are the best in my area! i download like 2gd in about 10 to 15 mins! so muc faster than Sky or BT0

Sky runs over BT's network.
(I had numerous problems with Sky's ADSL earlier in the year, which were probably due to BT.)0
