I love charity shops!

Many charity shops are now too upmarket IMO. In GAP often they reduce things again and again making it not too difficult to get a shirt that was £35 for £2.97 on some occasions. In some charity shops they'd try getting £4 for the same shirt second hand.
I have nothing against charity shops as they are there for a purpose, but I don't think they're as full of bargains as they used to be.0 -
I have to admit I sometimes find this with Oxfam - I know its all in the name of charity but sometimes the stuff in oxfam is so expensive considering its second hand especially compared to other charity shops. One example is videos I bought two for 50p each in Barnados and they are £1.50-£2.00 in Oxfam.
Honestly since becoming a student i'm such a horrible skinflint! I never buy anything now unless its in a sale or reduced! :rotfl:0 -
I hardly ever go into Oxfam - apart from the Oxfam book shop, where I recently got 45 plays for £18!!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Apparently there is a street in Bury St Edmunds that is all charity shops - been trying to get there for ages but never seem to have the time!
Where is this street in Bury St Edmunds? I don't know it, there are a few were you can walk out, down a couple of doors and in - but think theres only 4 in the same area, the rest are on a couple of streets?
I love them too! Like nothing better than going 'charity shopping' and seeing what we can find, its my favourite saturday pastime! We tend to go, and say we will only spend the change we have in our pockets!
Do agree though some can be overpriced, the bargains aren't the same here as they used to be, but also often have £1 days were everything is funnily enough a pound!! :rotfl:
Hmmm..... all enthusiastic to go out now! Will have to wait til the weekend though!:beer:0 -
my sister loves charity shops to look for 'vintage' clothes but shes usually too late coz all the 'vintage' shops in manchester have usually bought them all up!

Yuk, Yuk, Yuk! I hate them. Always smell musty and have loads of old fashioned rags. I'd rather go without than buy that junk.0
