I agree with the buyer leaving feedback first, but 'reminding' someone of the feedback system is asking for trouble, imo.

It can be but its worded in the most polite way at the end of an email which is strongly worded in favour of providing good customer service.

If a buyer gets wound up about the mention of feedback then they are oversensitive IMO. The email has actually intercepted a couple of people who were about to leave negatives because they had not received their item so it actually heads off negatives in some cases.

Well, sounds like you got yourself an oversensitive buyer then ;) It happens!

I send out an email on despatch, asking buyer to kindly confirm safe receipt, either by dropping me a line, or by leaving feedback. No grouches as yet :)

Well done SC, you will see that I didn't respond either. I'm a tad sensitive at the moment so often go away and consider things before I post :j

I think a seller should leave positive feed back after they are paid, the buyer once they receive and are happy. I also avoid leaving feedback when I'm not too happy, but don't want to risk a spiteful neg. from a seller.

I always give the positive feedback when buyers paid, after all they've done their bit. It would be nice to get feedback from the buyer as its the only way you know they have actually got the item.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Seller's SHOULD NOT leave feedback once payment is received. That is not the end of the transaction. So much can go wrong thereafter.

When selling, I only ever leave feedback after I have received feedback, indicating a successful transaction with the buyer.

When buying, I leave feedback once I have my item and it checks out, regardless of whether the seller has completed the feedback already.

Buyer's particularly are a funny bunch, and with some very very weird ideas. Like they'll buy something to then discover that it doesn't work with XYZ gizmo and then hold you responsible for it.

They don't the colour? It doesn't suit their living room?

And the daftest once has to be an HP iPAQ 2210, complaining that it doesn't do XYZ. Oh yes, that's what I always do, I just walk into Currys and Comet and spend £200 on the first thing I see. Never do I research my subject first.....

For the most part I've never had a problem with a buyer, as I always do exactly what I say I'm going to. Buyers that do annoy me are ones who win the item then take a week to pay....

My issues of late have been with new sellers. Who take forever to send? Who don't tell you when it's coming? Who don't communicate? And frankly, it's a blessing that they don't work in a shop. Hey, maybe they do, they learnt it all while working for PC-World or Comet?

Sellers should not leave feedback immiediately after being paid.
