See I fret about this too, I am lucky in that I live in town and only about 4 miles from the hospital. When I lived out in a village I would never let my car get lower than half, but here in town I am worried that I might get syphoned so I don't want to fill it up!
I promise that I will do my best.....

How old is your vehicle ?

Most cars these days have an anti-syphon trap nowadays.

i posted yesterday but logged out straight away and must have lost the post. :o

I just wanted to say a bit about the common sense of preserving. This time of year is my busiest preserving time due to perpetual foraging and harvesting fruit and veg but I try to preserve food all year round. It's an easy skill to learn and requires surprisingly little effort. :o

I have groaning shelves of jams, jellies, pickles, chutneys, flavoured oils and liquers. The ingredients are mostly cheap and often free and they are used for my own storecupboard and for small gifts throughout the year and to make up hampers for Christmas. The beauty of preserving apart from the low cost is the fact that if done properly they will last for ages and you will always have a wee stock of things for yourself and a quick prezzie for someone else.

Even a couple of Saturday mornings a month spent bottling things will build up a decent stock. ;)

Ask friends and neighbours for jars and bottles too. :)

Thanks HJ. The last thing I preserved was some bananas that were a bit too ripe. I made a banana curd, jar'd it up and scoffed the left overs for snack. I also use basics jam and lemon curd at 25p you get a perfectly usable jar afterwards too.

Ooh, you can't beat HM strawberry jam! It keeps for ages, too, as long as Mr LW doesn't realise it's there.:p

My last foray into jam making was a week or so back, blackberry and apple, with free blackberries and free apples.;)

I take a plastic tub with me when dog-walking, too; it's surprising what a stock of berries you can build up doing this.:o

Is it me, or have there been very few cherry-plums this year? I've had nowt off the trees near us, but a couple of years ago we were filling the basket on the front of the mobility buggy in next to no time.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
