Just took my dogs out for their last walk when a female shar pei, off lead, approached them.
She seemed friendly enough and was having a sniff of my dogs who were both relaxed about her.
Then a teenage lad came round the corner and the dog cowered on her tummy when she saw him. I was just wondering why she seemed frightened when he booted her so hard she was lifted right up off the ground, and fell in a shaking, whimpering heap.
I was horrified and yelled out to him, "Don't kick the poor dog!" Got the predicable response as he grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and hustled her away. I'm absolutely fuming now.
Poor little thing. As I don't know the lad or where he lives, I don't suppose there's anything I can do?

omg that's awful! I would phone the RSPCA to report it, don't know whether it would be worth reporting to the police for animal cruelty with a description of the man?
how horrible that little doggy needs rescuing from him asap!0 -
I'd be making a complaint to the police, the RSPCA and alerting the local dog warden (although in my experience dog wardens range from useful to pathetic) and giving them a description of the teenager, a description of the dog and every other useful piece of information.0

Thanks Mary and Tropez. I will call the RSPCA tomorrow for advice I think.
Poor little thing obviously gets abused by him on a regular basis, the way she cowered even before he touched her.
Just realised, there are CCTV cameras there up on lamp posts that would have recorded what he did to the dog. Wonder if the police would look at it and do something?
I can't bear to see such cruelty to a poor defenceless dog. How can a young lad be so vile? I really do despair sometimes.0 -
Thing is, if he is going to do that when someone is watching, god knows what he is doing when no-one is there.:(
The fact she cowered when she saw him is just breaking my heart...what is wrong with these bloody people that treat animals poorly:mad::mad:0 -
a shar pei wont tollerate that when they get to a point when they need to defend themselfs for fear of their lives they can get really nasty, so it wont surprise me if this gimp gets his leg chewed to bits before long.
had i been stood there, as soon as he kicked the dog flying he would had a mouth full of my fist to the floor and a dose of his own medicine.0 -
How horrible!
I am very tempted to re-home a GSD puppy I have seen at a rescue who has lost an eye through being kicked in the face. Thinks like that make me so angry!0 -
I would definitely report him, the dog was obviously scared stiff of him, I wonder if he treats it like that in front of his parents? Perhaps they might be as bad, it definitely needs rescuing.
The CCTV might not be any use. We have CCT at the end of our road but it doesn't record, its only of any use if the person monitoring it happens to be watching at the time of the incident.0 -
Contact the police and the RSPCA.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Just called the RSPCA, they say without any evidence/witnesses, there's nothing they can do, but that if I see the lad again or discover his name or address, to contact them immediately.
I'll go out at the same time tonight - with O/H this time - and see if I can see him anywhere.
I'd LOVE the poor dog to turn on him and give him a really painful bite somewhere he can't show his mother!0 -
Shar Pei is not avery common breed of dog so should be relatively easy to spot the "owner".
Poor dog....
