Old Style Daily Thread for Monday 17th September 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Monday 17th September 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

  • Good Morning Nmlc and all to follow.

    Its Monday

Plans today - drop DD at college, pop into a couple of shops whilst there for essentials. Come home via Aldi - need cat food and some veg.

Once home will look myself in my office and get loads done :o. So nothing exciting really happening today - hope to have a productive one - had quite a lazy one yesterday.

Quite a lot of beef left over from yesterday so today we are having a mini roast then tomorrow will be stew. Love it when a roast lasts a few days :D

Hope everyone is ok, hugs to whoever needs one, have a lovely day all.x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Blue sky peeping through light cloud, but a bit nippy here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

We didn't eat a "proper" meal yesterday as I didn't feel up to cooking or eating it, the boys didn't get back until DH went to collect his work van, they had already eaten so didn't want anything. So I made DH a mushroom omlette and I had a jacket potato. Tonight will be breaded chicken pieces, chips and beans for the menfolk and I'll have fish, jacket potato and veg. Will try to remember to put the butter cream and jam in the cake - if it's still ok, if not I'll have to use it to make the bottom of a trifle, if I've got a jelly!

Back to work for me this morning, hoping it's going to be steady and not a manic Monday but I'm mentoring another colleague this morning, so we can only work at her pace.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning all,

Chilly here this morning, but bright and sunny, perfect autumn day.

OH went out to go to work today to find the back wind screen on his van smashed, he thinks it might have happened when he was strimming yesterday :(, he has nipped into work to drop something off, but will have to come home to sort it out, its really an expense we don't need now.

As I said we managed to strim yesterday and cut the grass and the front hedge, I need to go and weed the front beds, and then thats the front done for winter, then onto the back.

Had four good sales on Ebay yesterday, one has paid, so need to post that today.

Also need to take the blind down, which I bought in John Lewis, its only been up a week and has broken , also we screwed the cord holder into the wall, which will have to come down be re filled and decorated . you expect good quality from them too.

Need to hoover through down stairs, and have a good clean, and do an online shop.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

We cut the bushes down in the front garden yesterday. Our side gate is screwed on at the moment so we had to bring the cuttings through the house. The hall and kitchen ended up looking like a forest floor :D We had a fire in old oil drum (mr tru was trying to burn it all at once, put too much in the drum and wondered why it didn’t burn. Errrrrrrrrmmmmm no air can get to it, you loon). He was making so much mess, flinging things about etc. so I left him to it and went for a shower. Big mistake – I missed the men in uniform :D The fire brigade had been called out to a fire a few streets away – turned out to be a prank call – but noticed the smoke on their way back so stopped to see if everything was OK. They stayed and chatted for a few minutes. Dammit.

I have loads of old candle wax, some grated and some not so I’m going to grate the rest today and make as many candles as I’ve got time for. I’ve only got six moulds so I’ll see how it goes.

Syman it must be The Season Of The Huge Egg or something :D One of our girls laid a huge egg yesterday – it weighed four ounces  It’s next to a normal sized egg, they weigh about two ounces.
We heard lots of chirping a few months ago, and adult robins were flying in and out of the bush. We found their nest when we were cutting down the bushes, complete with bits of eggshell

Good morning everyone:wave: Dry now but we had some drizzly rain during the night. Washing will go on line later.
Have a sit and wait drs appointment at 10, my eye was a bit tender yesterday , woke up this morning and it was 'glued' together and very red and sore.

Woofer is no longer limping so think he just overdid on the exercise.

Dinner is sweet and sour chicken using up the leftover meat from yesterday, will make a fudge tart later for pud.

Once get back from drs have to box up ds1 library of books that he left behind. He took over 40 books with him and his kindle , have a couple of boxes that will slide under my bed that they can go into to keep them safe till he decides what he wants to do with them.

So that basically is my day.Hope you all have a lovely monday:)

  • hi,

we had the fire brigade out last night too - our chimney caught fire. So, I've had to take the day off to clean and sort things out - and more importantly air the house because it stinks.

So - popping in to say hello for the first time! Hope you all have a better day than I will.

    Are you all OK?

Someone I know had a chimney fire a few months ago, they managed to put it out before the fire brigade arrived. She said the noise was the scariest thing she'd ever heard, much worse than the fire itself.
