Android Tablet/iPad for 4 yr old

I'm trying to think what to get my 4yr old for her bday. I was thinking some kind of tablet that she might like. She is obsessed with my iPhone (I have toddler games and things downloaded on it) and my brother's iPad (again, he has stuff downloaded for her), but I know there are other things out there like LeapPad (spent a bit of time in Toys R Us yesterday).
When I asked her today what she'd like, she said "Rings... Bracelets... lots of bracelets.... Necklaces... lots of necklaces and lots of dresses!!
So now I'm thinking that she's not old enough for her own tablet, but when she's allowed to play with mine or my brother's, then it's enough for her. That if she has her own, the novelty will wear off.

She will be 4 years old .... let her BE 4 years old! Let yer have her necklaces, beads and dresses - add some crayons, a doll or two ... let her be a little girl.
Time enough for iPads!0 -
Personally, I think children as young as these should not have them.
Let them play with toys.
I understand it is tempting to want your children to have everything and to have the best, but what will you get for her when she is older?0 -
Agree with thorsoak, far too young IMO.. Let her be a little girl and play games on your phone as a treat, she'll want far more expensive things when she's older and won't realise the value of it at 4 years old.0

I also agree that 4 is far too young for a tablet of her own. Instead, let her have bracelets, dressing up clothes, craft stuff and toys. Give her the chance to develop an imagination and to play games that do not rely on technology.0

Honestly ?
I would think that any person who buys a tablet for a four year old is either mad or has too much money to spend . No offence though .:)0 -
Is the OP suggesting an actual ipad or a kiddie Leap pad version. I suspect it's the latter but to be honest nothing on the leap pad is going to match the apps on an iPad.
If she wants bracelets and necklaces better get her something she wants than something she doesn't.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Let her be a child and buy her what she wants, this can be done from eBay and charity shops and the like so she can have lots without busting the budget. Why on earth would you want to make the latest technology the norm before she is old enough to 'expect' that? Did you have the latest thing when you were that age?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Might as well just give them one when they are babies, seems people are giving their kids technology younger and younger. My DD2 is 8 and is getting a tablet for Christmas (not an iPad) and even at her age I have my reservations.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0
