Ok, I have loaded my printer drivers onto my uni laptop... Peeled the meat from the chicken carcass and the bones are now in the slow cooker to make soup at some point either tonight or tomorrow. Off to strip the beds and get the WM on before I start an online assessment.
Mudders - I have lots of pasta, rice, tins of veg etc in the cupboard, so if I plan all my meals around what I have Ill hopefully not have to spend a great deal. Im thinking when my tax credits award comes through, Ill be entitled to free school meals for LO as I wont be in receipt of WTC any more so that'll cut down on my food bill loads, not buying packed lunches too. Im happy to take leftovers to uni so we will still eat :rotfl: but I agree... ITs overrated! I could do with losing a few pounds anyway
Gas and electricity, well they are both on meters in this new flat... So I have to make sure I have available cash to top them up as required! Im flipping useless at remembering to buy credit for them though at the best of times! We have run out a few times since we have lived here... not becuase I havent had the money, just becuase I keep forgetting there is a meter!
What I have noticed though, is how quickly £10 can be used up or how long you can make it last!! When you have a monthly bill, you dont know these things. But im quickly learning, especially when I turned the central heating on :eek::eek:
But although its turned colder, Im avoiding putting the heating on still at the moment! LO likes snuggling under a blanket to watch TV anyway and putting the lights off like we are at the movies so we will save on energy costs there too :rotfl:
I know its a bit grim, but Ive managed before and Ill manage again! Itll stand me in good stead for the following months.
I find that when money isnt so tight, my MSE habits fall by the wayside very gradually! You dont notice it all at once, but a little treat here and something else there... and suddenly, when money is tight again, you realise how much you have been wasting! This should give me a boot up the rear into mending my MSE ways
Assessment and washing machine are calling...Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Morning all.
Pottering today. Slow cooker on with chicken and chorizo stew (actually turkey) hope it turns out ok, first attempt. Kids have been scoffing all morning, and apparently still hungry! WM been on and hung on airer as raining, DW been on too. I've also tidied the kitchen junk drawer and sorted through the hats and gloves bag. Made the kids try them on so I can see what fits, hats are fine but both need gloves and I can't find any scarves.
First night in ages they slep in their own beds (till 6am, anyway). I woke all confused wondering where they were lol.
Got to wait in for my delivery (thermal curtains) then hopefully we can scoot off to Asda. Need some milk and bits, but thought I'd get gloves, some more thermal bits and slippers for DS. All in one place.
So hopefully delivery will be soon, and we won't have to wait in all day...Bossymoo

Morning all, not much flying done this week. Feeling so tired all the time. Headed to the big city last night and didn't get back until 10pm at least the kids were tired so they went striaght to bed.
Anyway DD is having a friend to stay tonight and miss Eva is coming here for awhile so that sister and BIL can go to the funeral.. DS3 due at playgroup at 12 so i'll get some flying in while he's away.
Hope all poorlies feel better soon.
Hope anyone with money worries finds a secret stash somewhere.
ionafan the castle looks fab.
Bossymoo i love reading your posts about the little ones, always makes me laugh.
KD due up this evening with some money, i might just text him and get him to get me some coal.“Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it.”0 -
Thank you Ionafan for going to all that trouble. Your castle looks wonderful - you are really clever.
DutyKitten Thank you for the product suggestion. Our local hardware shop sells that brand so if a couple of other ideas I had yesterday don't work, I'll be following up your suggestion.
Having flown like a crazy thing earlier in the week, I hav to say the house looks really smart compared to it's usual gribble-strew muckiness, so thank you everyone who does the lists and contributes by posting. It keeps me going when things get out of hand. I realised this week how much I dislike dusting (all that moving of 'stuff', but at least I also found out that it only takes 30 minutes to do all the dusting that absolutely has to be done regularly. Two 15 minute bursts, in future, I think.Better is good enough.0 -

Afternoon
Still here, reading but not really posting. But I have been flying as usual.
Washing is drying slowly, it's cool out but still dry so far.0 -
Welcome Amanda,we all fall off the wagon most weeks, why else are we always here!
Ionafan great castle and glad you enjoyed the trip to the DGCI've had to go and buy Fa*ry wa$hing liquid. DS3's eczema is in a bad way. Reading back on the thread I saw Pigpen was commenting about it. I use Neal$ Yard calendular cream on mild patches of eczema, and their Stelaria cream on more angry patches. I only give in to the HCortizone when they have both failed. We get through industrialial size quantaties of D!probase. Give it time and DS3 will become allergic to it. We have had lots of other emolients and he becomes sensitised to everything.
Thanks that reminds me I have a repeat script to collect for our huge pot of DB and I bought some NY stellaria at a party a few months ago to try on DS3 - now is the time, he has a flare up too and a touch of asthma which he doesn't usually get without hayfever - actually silly me his eyes are sore too, something must be setting this off!AfternoonStill here, reading but not really posting. But I have been flying as usual.
