I agree with whoever said up there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
If you want to donate stuff to charity, take it to the shop. It may be more bother but at least you know where it's going."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
-- Eleanor Roosevelt0 -
We get these a lot, and when you read the small print its obvious that they are selling the stuff on. Luckily we also get regular sacks from the Red Cross and Barnardos, so I just hang onto my gear until their bags arrive. It annoys me tho when I see the sacks left out by the elderly people on my road who obviously havent clicked on.0

on our local internet community forum there was a discussion about something similar, linked to eastern europeans, and that it is a scam, worse than pretending to be a charity, they use the collection as ruse to get close to your house to case the joint, and then take more than you intend to donate......if you know what I mean.... :eek:0

Our local newspaper prints warning when these get delivered locally - perhaps you could ring them to warn people off ?Sealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j0 -
We get these weekly so now most in our area ignore all of them including the "help the aged" ones that came today which is the downside as legitimate ones like these lose out.Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.0

hi ive always had my doubts its like when you go to a car bootsale and when u ask the price or a question about something a long far away distant look is given and after watching the" Real Hustle" , I only give to registered charities there no.is at the bottom of most leaflets or do some reasearch or take them to the shop yourself, during the day as youll be surprised the amount of pople who will go round just after dark, the last time i dropped items off id left a bag wedged down between the seats so went round the block just intime to see some one else loading up the car with my charity donations ......still its there consience not mine the b***TardsDon't sweat the small stuff, Its all small stuff.0

I gave some of our clothes away to one of these. The next week i was trundling round a market 20 miles away and low and behold they were there. (My initials were on the trousers) The bloke said he knew nothing about it. Sure.4 years of entering competitions daily and not a thing won. What a fix.0

Only donate to UK charities that you have heard of.
We had a bag recently from SOS Clothes Ltd. that claimed to support heart operations for children in eastern europe. I looked up the charity - site is childrenshearts.org.uk - and it did seem to be registered. However, in 2008 income and donations were £967 and funds spent were about £66 on publicity. ie. this charity is inactive.
I informed the local paper hoping they would warn people.
Google SOS Clothes and you find that they are doing this all over the UK with different charities -

I suspect the charities get practically nothing, and may not even be aware their name is being used.
Do not donate anything to them.0 -
I get around 1 - 3 of these bags a week from various different collection s. I don't have any stuff to put in 1 a month let alone a 1 - 3 per week and a nice pile of glossy coloured leaflets and elastic bands to go with them!
I just collect the leaflets together and recycle the bags for the dustbin! Unless of course its dome genuine charity - but even then you can't be too certain as in recent years we had a scam in our area where some charity was being 'cloned' and copied being delivered to foreign workers who used the clothes for themselves as they sent most of their wages back home!
However now the nicer weather is upon us again its becoming unbeleivable with nearly a bag supposedly being collected on every day! Had one leaflet that said "We will collect this week on A FRYday" Not only does it suggest they could not spell properly, let alone proof read the flyers but couldnt specify which Friday it was going to be other than 'a'!
Ive really had enough of these leaflets and have tried handing them back as soon as they are delivered, putting them out empty, putting them inside the top of an open dustbin (which I open just for the day of supposed collection) almost everything but nothing works. I am close to putting a sign on the door next to the letterbox but what language do I write it in?
Its frightening enough for me when I am home alone to think anyone could be snooping around the neighbourhood our house was burgled when I was a teenager by someone who was obviously keeping a watch on when we were in or out for almost 2 weeks before they broke in, it brings back memories I would rather forget especialy the fear as when I went into the house first they were still inside!
Is there anyone or anywhere I can write requesting they not deliver to my address? Or any other way I can stop them?
ThanksFailure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!
