JSA Job search log

There was a program recently that followed people signing on and having to present their job search. They proved that in some cases the log is not even read or looked at by advisor. One wrote down his shopping list on it and nothing was said to him.
Strange how an advisor would class looking on the internet as not a positive seeing as they list jobs on a web site for claimants to browse.0 -

Yes, I saw that. The risk being that if they had checked it, he would have been liable for a sanction, he was just lucky that it wasn't checked.0 -

it clearly is but the problem is, it is the same people that sanction you, who you can appeal to, just one of their mates but by the time an appeal is hear and will almost likely fail, you would have been without any money for weeks.0 -
thought so but I was giving you the benefit of the doubt as signing a JSA agreemebt is part of the contract so is no less important, a sanction can be given for not doing what you have agreed to do so why you think it is any less important to the "law" is daft.
Or maybe, just maybe, I know what I'm talking about. Maybe I've considered such cases and applied the law countless times.0 -

well explain so we both know. if you are saying the agreement all JSA claimants sign are not worth the paper they are written on, it would be good to know as people have been sanctioned for not carrying out the agreement, I was just told again today that I have to do all that is in the agreement or be sanctioned.0 -
The agreement has changed in general for everyone regardless of length of time on JSA everyone must perform 12 actions a fortnight. Looking in the papers and on websites are acceptable as are asking friends and family about vacancies. Also the time you are expected to travel has increased to 90 mins each way. this includes all travel from the front door to the door of the place of work. They are pushing the limits up to get as many people off the books as possible. If this doesn't work they will raise the bar again. I can get to the other side of Manchester in 90 minutes (I am from Blackburn) So not only am I now competing with local people for the few jobs in my town I have to compete with the thousands in Manchester and the 90 minute surrounding area. Not only that if you refuse a job without good reason you will also be sanctioned, meaning you have to becareful which jobs you apply for as if you cannot afford your house and the extensive travel fund but get offered the job, you are obliged to take it or risk losing your benefits.0

Looking on websites is classed as one action, looking three times a week is not three actions, buying two papers is only one action. Asking separate individuals about job vacancies are separate actions just as long as you can list the individual places of work you are asking about.0

A sanction would normally be for 1 week of JSA; it shouldn't close the claim. A Decision Maker should only take a day. It can be reconsidered then. An Appeal would take 6 - 9 months, however, due to the Tribunal backlog. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0
