Greetings,
I've recently started claiming jsa as i got layed off but am confused about that job search record sheet they give you. I have to do 12 things a week to find work but am unsure if I've got to write down 12 actual things? Most of these 12 things are look at this website such as the jobseekers direct site 3 times a week. Do I write down that I've looked at this site three times? Seems rather silly to me. Can't I put looked at this site X3?
Cheers

they'll want to know datesand you just have to know those dates, noe requirement to write anything. So do what you like but be sure you have the info if needed0

The jobcentre I go to you have to put down 10 positive actions per week, looking at a website is NOT clased as this in their eyes.
According to my advisor (Thank god I got offered a job starting in a few weeks so I no longer have to deal with them) the only things which count as positive actions include:
Sending a CV
Sending a Spec Letter
Applying for a job
Getting an interview
Phoning up to request infomation / application forms
Doing voluntary work
They've told me several times that simply "looking" on website is not considered a job-search action because its easy to do.
Hope this helps.0 -
^my agreement says looking at a site is classed as actively seeking work. On it it says i have to write to 1 employer a week, phone one a week, visit directgov 3 times a week, ask family and friends once a week, visit jobsites which all added up to 12. she made this clear. i've just put that i've visted the sites everyday which i do anyway. she made this clear this added up to twelve things.0

You've only got to do 3 different things a week by law as far as I know so you should get your agreements changed.0

they have you though as you have to sign the "agreement" or no benefit.
So the law might say 3 actions but if your agreement says 12 then 12 it is!
I don't know if they are willing to change an agreement once it is signed, I doubt it.
Mine is look on the job centre web site and apply for 6 jobs a week, I think it's unreasonable to expect me to agree to something that is out of my control.0 -

Yep, some bit of paper documenting an agreement between two people absolutely over rides the law.0 -
You're both right. 3 actions is the minimum, although after 6 months etc, it's common to see 4 or 8 actions in a JSAg.
Once in force, a breach of a JSAg can lead to a sanction.
You can ask for a JSAg to be varied and a Decision Maker will consider this; but, the best advice is to turn it over and read the back before you sign one. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -

not signing is not an option if you want the benefit, so your only left with refusing to sign or asking their mate...sorry I mean a decision makers to look at it again, I wonder which side they will come down on.0
