Is it illegal?
This all hypothetical by the way as I am single lol!!!!!!!! I am just curious because someone I know has been through something similar recently.
I was in a relationship with A and I started to see B neither are aware of each other.
So after a few months I stopped seeing A. Some how A found out that I been seeing two of them at once.
I really like the B and hope it works out. Anyway A has come to me and said that unless I start sleeping him again he will tell B, that there was an overlap. B does have some texts from me that would imply a relationship and shows the overlap.
I know I should come clean with B but know the relationship will be over.
I know morally very wrong but is there anything legally I can do?

That's not emotional blackmail, that's blackmail. If the hypothetical person can prove it then the blackmailer is basically a rapist and would be liable to go on the sex offenders' register.0

yesIs it illegal?
yesI know morally very wrong but is there anything legally I can do
If this is real get help straight away,
it's not just morally wrong, ring 101 and talk to the police I'm not sure which department and dont know the legal terms; but you are being blackmailed with threats of rape.
Also call ' rape crisis ' you need support and someone to speak to.
If this person has their way the blackmail will not stop it will get worse, get help now!0 -
B is going to find out eventually. You may as well tell him at least then A cant persuade you anything..
If the relationship finishes then that's life when you play with fire, you finished it with A when he didn't want it to finish.....B finishes it with you when you dont want it to.0 -
Tell B.
Say that at the very beginning you weren't committed, were seeing someone else, as soon as you realised the depth of your feelings you finished seeing someone else and have been faithful and happy.
That you want to come clean and ensure nothing can come out and bite you as a couple as you move forwards, and it's been playing on your mind.
Then tell A to !!!!!! off.0 -
As I said it is hypothetical situation and not real.
Personally I would say be damned and let them tell and deal with the fall out.

but you are being blackmailed with threats of rape.
That is making an assumption that is male to female as I did put in him. I believe that only men can be charged with rape?
What if it is flipped and was female to male?

!
but you said 'I am just curious as I know someone who has been through this'
It's either real or it isn't, if it is be a pal & pass the advice onto the person you say it has happened to.
I meant hypothetical in reference to myself.
Some one I know went through something like this and went down the route of don't care tell and it all worked out for them.
I was interested in what what legal action could have been take if they wanted to?
As it was not something they had considered. And they thought the person would not go through with it and they didn't.

it's still blackmailThat is making an assumption that is male to female as I did put in him.
I'm pretty sure this is not true, women can be charged with rape but not sure if it would apply in the context you describe.I believe that only men can be charged with rape?
it's still blackmail possibly with threats of sexual assaultWhat if it is flipped and was female to male?0 -
It also could be considered harassment which is another serious offence.0
