Cancelling a contract with 3 then rejoing to get cashback

Hi,

I'm currently with 3 on a sim only 1 month rolling contract. Looking to upgrade to iPhone 5 and take advantage of Top Cash Backs offer of £96.96 cashback on an iPhone 5 contract from 3 but its only open to new customers.

Is it possible to join as a new customer now then cancel my sim only once the new iPhone arrives? And just swap the number over?

It is possible, but 'swapping' may be not as simple as you think.

1)No as you have 30 days notice & bill to pay to 3 if you leave within them 30 days. Get PAC use within last few days of said 30.

Simply port to another mobile provider & back to 3 on new deal

or

2)Tell 3 your intention to 3 disconnections why you want your PAC & see what they can offer you to just re-contract directly. If 2) fails revert back to 1)
