stop me being petty on ebay

I would contact seller as like you say, they may not know. Give them chance.
I have just won a bike on eBay. £2.72 with helmet and stabilisers. The seller has marked as payment received and marked as dispatched immediately. I had not paid at that point and it is collection only. Somehow I think the seller is unhappy at it going for such a low amount. I have contacted seller asking to collect it next week but no reply as yet......0 -
I have once left a neg, and I didn't contact the seller beforehand. Nothing she could have done/said would have made me think of the transaction in a positive light so the feedback accurately reflected how I felt.
Prior to me leaving the feedback she'd sent me a snidey e-mail and after the feedback she sent me another two, ranting on. Justified the neg to me tbh.
Anyway, I digress...Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -
I had someone neg me recently without contacting me because they disagreed with my description and I overcharged postage by £1.10 (it fell into the lower price bracket which i wasn't expecting and figured they wouldn't make a fuss as most people I find charge at least £1 over the actual postage price). Needless to say it really bothered meI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

OP with a bundle I would be inclined to just accept it, unless they explicitly stated that everything was in excellent condition. I had someone neg me recently without contacting me because they disagreed with my description (annoys me because there were loads of close up photos and i know it was brand new and they got a serious bargain) and I overcharged postage by £1.10 (it fell into the lower price bracket which i wasn't expecting and figured they wouldn't make a fuss as most people I find charge at least £1 over the actual postage price). Needless to say it really bothered me
Not having a pop just trying to be helpful here. eBay have a clear policy on overcharging on postage, you can charge for packaging so £1 or so extra is perfectly reasonable unless you are recycling. If you accidentally overcharge £1 or more IMO you are safest refunding the difference to their Paypal and sending the buyer a message on eBay to let them know what you have done. I have had this done by Etsy sellers and they get even more positive feedback for their honesty.
I once left a negative for overcharging on postage - it was a few quid and they'd packed the item in supermarket carrier bags ... Badly such that the heel made a large hole in the bag so I was lucky to receive both shoes! I did contact the seller before leaving the feedback.I have once left a neg, and I didn't contact the seller beforehand. Agree totally that sending you a nasty message before the negative was left justifies the feedback! To me we are feeding back on the total experience: the product, description, communication, speed, quality of packing and so on. The next buyer is not necessarily buying the same product but they are potentially going to have the same good/ poor customer service experience.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Thank you all for your replys - i emailed the seller and did not mention return / partial refund / feedback i just said i was disappointed as essentially half of the bundle was unuseable. Seller has replied to say that the other half were excellent so i still got a bargain and i should have emailed first to check the quality of each item. I had already decided to keep the items but any doubt that i had - that maybe the seller considered they were actually in good condition - have just been dispelled. So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.0

I think that ebay is a gamble and even more so recently, what with postage and fees it's hard to make a decent profit, which is why I don't sell. I think the seller is wrong and should realise that it's the marks you leave on their stars that can do the most damage and they are giving you ammunition.
Not that I'm advocating that you alert them but I think sellers are vulnerable with the star rating system. The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0
