So are you br, or are you giving us a list of Building Societies.
Do you know any br's who have got an account with any of those listed.

    You missed Norwich & peterbough.

They would open an account for me post discharge, two years later it is still a basic account ie,e no chequebook or overdraft.

Yes indeed i did as they are one that wont
My Partner who was a BR in a previous life managed to open over 10 different accounts through that list
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

It's no different to your assumptions that you can't get a bank account being BR.

Newbie your name suggests that you have come on here for help or are you just trolling.

You have to remember that posters on here come from all over and will have tried everything and everywhere to open an account whilst br and post discharge,

Thanks basfordlad, hopefully the members on here can start using some of these accounts and report back on which are the best ones to use

    Quite

Whilst some of them will only offer a passbook account where you can have your wages paid in, its better then having to pay for those accounts like thing banking, it may mean having to withdraw money once or twice a week over the account. It depends on where you live etc.

People shouldnt think they can have an all singing all dancing account all of the time

I do apologise if my posts came along a bit misguided so to speak But came on here about my gas & electricity bill and didn't realise how big this site was.
  • The Coventry current account has an overdraft on it so that will most like be a no from them. I have emailed them and will see what they say, though we have found that what a CS says is then over turned by the computer going uh! uuuh!

I have had a look at the terms and conditions on a number of those sites tonight and i cant see any that explicitly say that a bankrupt would not be elligable for the accounts

Yes but that is the current account, which is a credit scored product,i said non credit scored products
    What you need is this:

I have the above account and its great,(but mine was the debit card version which they withdrew due to high demand, but its still the same account

  • Yep! I've done the same DI but you know and I know that just 'cos they don't mention it doesn't mean they won't say no.

I really do hope we can get together a list of those who will say yes consistently for the board. It will be brilliant if we can.

Right, I must get to bed it's 10.50pm here and the alarm is going off at 6am and I have to deal with a furniture delivery that ma or may not be delivered and if it is direct them via phone to a place I have only ever been to 3 or 4 times before and there is no guarantee they will understand me or I them. Happy days!!
