Do natwest have a policy of allowing any bankrupt that applies to have that account though

  • Literally anyone can have that savings account as it's not a current account, it's not credit scored and if you went into branch saying you merely wanted the first reserve savings there is absolutely no reason why an advisor can't get you one set up. If done over the phone make sure you mention that you're looking to save for a holiday/new toilet/blow up banana etc as they have compliance regulations they need to follow.

You will find that most banks wont even give a savings account to a bankrupt, which is why i asked if natwest have specifically stated that they will do so for this account

  • I've just done a Google of the NatWest first reserve and it seems it is no longer available?

Oh yeah, sorry i'm old school. It's the instant saver now. Ps regarding the non bankrupt eligibility...that's a good question. It's definitely worth a try.

it would be great if it was correct but i fear based on previous dealings that they may not allow it, maybe we need to get some people to give it a go and see if they can get them

You can only withdraw cash from it at the post office, there is no debit card and no card to use a hole in the wall, can't set up direct debits or standing orders. So your income goes in and you withdraw cash, that's it. And most importantly it's subject to status. Which says it all really so doubt they accept BR.

I dont have a problem with this myself

There are lots of options for people who are bankrupt. Lots of building societies with basic passbook/cashcard accounts which allow direct debits etc which are normal savings accounts and thus allow undischarged Bankrupts.

So dont moan go to your local building society !!!
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
