You've told him to stay out of your bedroom and he forgets? Stick a large sign on the outside of the door worded in such a way that he will understand what it means..................

You haven't said whether you are willing to damage your furniture - if you don't mind how it looks, it should be easy enough to add padlocks. Or drawer locks do exist, if it was practical to fit them. Or perhaps build some kind of a cupboard around the furniture that has a lockable door. But if you can afford to replace the furniture, I'd probably look for office furniture that comes with a lock.0

Now that would be perfect! If only it wasn't £350.

That looks like a perfect solution for daughter's door, thank you.
I may see if I can 'adjust' my door myself to get it to close properly then this would work for me too.
What a brilliantly simple yet effective idea.

HI, I have similar issues with my son.We have an alarm on the kitchen door which only needed one screw. It has a keypad which you set the code and a stickable magnet on the other. When the door is opened the alarm goes off. It is fire safe as you just push the door.
Igot it from ebay for about 7.00. They are good.
Hope this helps.I am sure you can fill in the hole afterwards.0 -
If the offending door is made of wood, there's no end of adjustments that can be made and then 'disappeared' at the end of the rental period by the addition of woodfiller and coffee grounds.
Just saying.
I wouldn't suggest you did that.
Honest.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

You haven't mentioned what the learning difficulty is, but is there no possibility of him actually 'learning' the rules rather than having to block him out?
There may be times in life where he shouldn't be accessing certain things and without having the skills to respect others' property he may fall short of this.
I work with children with learning difficulties and we use a number of different strategies to allow children to be as independent as possible whilst still responsible for themselves. Would he respond to signs/pictures etc? I use a programme which is fully customisable (sp??) in work and would be more than happy to help if I could.
