Unmarried folk -what do you call your oh? how do you feel about it?

'Other half' would be my choice. In fact, even though I'm married, I often say other half instead of husband because it's less stuffy.

I do get annoyed when people call me "Mrs hisfirstname" like I don't have my own identity. But he knows that annoys me and that it's not me being awful to him.

Why not just refer to him as Dave/Jeff/John etc?0

"Current squeeze" ???
Only joking, before I get flamed...
My DH calls me his "Best Bit@h" at time though, which makes me laugh.0 -
I know exactly what you are all saying. I too hate the term 'boyfriend'. We have been together for years, and are in our 30's. The term 'partner' sounds clinical, like business partners.
Depending on who I am with, I call him my husband if it is around strangers or a formal thing, or even my sh*g-piece mainly just to make people snigger though. He calls me the missusThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
As an aside, he hates the term "other half"- says he's not anybody's half, we're all whole people and that we shouldn't need someone else to make ourselves feel like a proper person. But that's just his view

I introduced my OH as 'my OH' to someone a few months ago and they shot me down saying "he is not a half, he is a whole person all of his own" which has totally put me off using this expression since!
I use boyfriend, but it makes me cringe a bit, especially when I'm at work as I am far from a teenager.
I agree partner sounds like a term for gay couples - my Mum refers to my boyfriend as "my daughter's partner" when she is speaking of him to other people, but I think it is a bit weird.
I hope to be a fiancee very soon
that will solve the issue! 0 -

Because if I am at work for eg, talking to someone who knows little about my personal life, they wouldn't have a clue who I was referring to!
eg....
Me: "So you are running the London Marathon this year are you? Dave/Jeff/John etc did that last year and said it was horrific!"0 -
