If the auction didn't state collection then the seller does not need to allow collection of the item.

if you dont state it as for collection or collection as an option then why ask if you can collect, if a buyer had emailed me before the bidding had finished and askd if they could collect id say yes,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

I travel about a lot through work and if I have bought something and I am going to that area, I will always ask if I can collect before I pay, 70% of the time the answer is yes, so I collect, but if not, when I bid, I was prepared to pay the postage, so I pay for delivery.
The one time I didn't was when I won an English leather saddle which was located in Cambridge, I said rather than have it possibly damaged, could I collect it, only to be told the item was actually still in Spain and wouldn't be back for another week or so, I held off on the payment until I was told it was here to post and the e-mail never arrived, so I never paid. Had I just sent of the money as usual, I doubt I would ever have got the saddle. So asking to collect, does sometime pay off."Dogs come when they are called.
